Hey all,

Been doing some research on bodybuilding shoes. I have flat feet and would like to get something that would help in efforts to improve my lifting technique.

Not training powerlifting-style. However, I do squats and deads in my training. So I'd prefer something more generalized towards bodybuilding-type lifting.

I heard the Otomix line of shoes are good. But it's hard to find a Canadian store that carries them.

Any suggestions on brands / stores?

Thanks!

I'm also thinking of getting orthopedics... but, would also be curious of the shoe would be enough without getting them or vise-versa (since my insurance will cover orthopedics).

Training is training and you want a good pair of shoes for that :) While you squat and deadlift it is good to have your feet feeling the surface (no gels pads in your shoes) so those Otomix shoes you mentioned would be great for that. Whatever you do don't go with the running type with gel soles.

I prefer chuck Taylors because they are cheap and it feels like I'm not wearing anything plus my knees never hurt after training like they use to because they don't buckle. Some guys like to wear boots and then there are a few guys on here that have purchased the vibram http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/ (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/) and love them.

i wear otomix stingray shoes and there the best. Amazing for leg day, supportive, light weight, comfortable as hell. look into them u wont be disappointed. Got the idea when i seen Evan Centopani wearing em and claiming there the best for leg day.

exactly, some even prefer to go bare foot. I like to where these, no gel and you can feel everything

I go barefoot now and love it for squats and deads, better ankle mobility and your training the muscles in your feet, my knees feel better as well.

I don't like going barefoot in public gyms, but a cheap pair of chucks are my preferred shoes for lifting. No support, no gel to break and no airbags to roll your ankles over when they pop.

Barefoot is not an option for me. For plenty of reason and even without weights sometimes my heels feel tight. Though... funny enough my insoles that I had for 10 years or so I started wearing again and my knees don't hurt anymore.

Also heard basketball shoes or cross trainers will do the job too. So that saves me from hunting.

there is a great store, i believe its EDF superstore or something along those lines. dirt cheap otomix.

the "ultimate shoe" i have found for the lifts you're talking about is Vibram's Five fingers. they mimic barefeet perfectly.

google them. they're getting silly popular now, I've had mine for roughly a year and wouldn't trade them for anything.

Although this post is quite old I just wanted to spread the word that I've just recently become a distributor/retailer for Otomix shoes. I am located in the Toronto area so they will be available for anyone who is interested!
