so whats the masses here think of the idea, the jays management is talking about?
personally i would love to see him in a jays uniform. he's guaranteed to put minimum 5000 more butts in the seats, and he is almost a forsure walk, which could lead to more runs scored. whether he did or didnt do steroids is irrelevant to me, as pitchers are still scared to throw to him because of his power.
i dont see him as a distraction in the dressing room either, as most teams are chalk full of assholes to start with, or have their own problems with the law.
come on J.P. bring Barry to a jays uniform

I'd love to see it but it would be an awful addition in terms of chemistry in the clubhouse . Bonds is ****ing amazing but a huge jerk too . The last time they had a huge ass it was Shea Hillebrand and he got ran out of town . It will never happen though . Ricciardi is a ****ing idiot who hasn't made many good moves in Toronto . If they could get him for next to nothing it would be worth a try . He'd probably agree to play for free just so he can hit enough homers to put his record out of reach for A - Rod (another huge asshole)

I disagree with it being a terrible move for the Chemistry.
TSN interviewed Jeremy Accardo (current Jay and former team mate of Bonds and he said contrary to popular belief "Bonds is a great team guy"
Greg Zaun stated, "he would love to see Bonds in a T.O uniform.

Bonds is the worst team player in the league. In San Fran he had his private section of the clubhouse with his own big screen TV, leather recliner, and he would rarely talk to teammates.
Once he gets charged with perjury it will be hard with him getting a work visa here.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Big Hurt Thomas is a goner from T.O. The Jays management doesn't wanna pay him the $10 million his contract promises for 2009, that is why he's being benched indefinetaly, his contract is void after this year because he won't play the "required games" to keep him active.
Sad too, I like the guy. :hu

Bring Bonds to T-dot. I was just talking about this with some buddies the other day. I think at this point and time you would be able to get him for a decent price, a price that would be worth every penny. Bonds may have a bit of an ego but that's because of his great career and outstanding accomplishments. I don't need to list them off but I do recommend that you have a look at them....He's a veteran that has picked apart so many pitchers. A veteran that if batting behind V dub could earn him some more quality pitches. Frank just couldn't do that because of his piss poor consistency. It's a shame he isn't the Frank of seven or eight years ago.

I just watched the Jays bats go silent for 3 games in a row against ****ing Tampa . I'd sign him if I were Riccardi . Nothing to lose but his job (Riccardi) .
Frank Thomas just signed with Oakland . Good for him . I liked him .

Fire that greasy bastard Riccardi . He had a 5 year plan and he's in year 7 . The dirty prick doesn't even live in Toronto . Most GM's do have enough class to live in the city they are employed in .

Hell of a deal for the A's if you ask me

Way to go Riccardidiot! The Jays still owe Thomas the remainder of his 8 million dollars so why not use him? He was in a slump but he'll get out of it soon enough. Dear GOD!
Hi Downtown, that was a steal for the A's, you are x100 correct sir.

I thought Thomas was released from his contract? No way they would let him go and still pay the money.

from the get go, richardidiot made another brutal signing on a aging player. these players still have some years left, but if they wont sign for 1 year at a time, then get some youth up from the farm and pay them to turn into good players.
dont give these aging players 3 year contracts where u cant trade them because of their age and salary, exactly what has happened in this case.
time to fire gibson and ricardo!

I am not the BEST with numbers, but if Frank Thomas gets $8 mil this year, and has an option for next year based on appearances why not at least keep him around this year and act all normal but release him the day before makes 325 at bats?

Thomas had accused the Jays of benching him in an effort to limit his at bats and therefore not have to pay his full contract for this year . If they were to do as you suggested then they'd look like assholes in the eyes of many players . It is hard enough to get players to want to play in Toronto as it is . I think an act like that would turn players off further .

yes the jays have to pay him this year, but the reason they cut him is they can't afford to wait for him to heat up, which won't be until june. with the red sox and yanks hurting a bit, they need to move now to try and get some games on them as they will turn it on later in the year. look at the top of the east, Baltimore and TB won't last (yes the Rays are good this year, but they'll fade, Balt is just off to a good start) but the thinking goes if they get some pop in the lineup over the next month in a half the Jays can get an edge over the yanks and sox....
