Well guys and girls.

I'm currently in a hospital bed typing on my black berry, with a cask from my ankle to my hip.

I tore my tendon that attache my quad to my knee cap.

I did this squating it was nothing to heavy and I do it on a regular basis.not to sure what happen first rep felt great second re went down a bit below parralle and as a went to push up I heard a huge pop/snap and I just collapsed to the floor .

Next thing I know I'm being rushed to the hospital and on the list for surgery.

so now I'm just bored in bit of pain and on a bunch of meds.

Man this sucks !!!

And here I thought people were just over reacting when they complained about Canadian wait times, I figured for emergency surgery they would just get it done.

I had to wait 8 months for ear surgery, but it was for a long time lingering problem so no big deal... but 4 days with a torn quad??

First of all he's in Northern Ontario.

Secondly you can't always do surgery right away - need to wait until inflamation and swelling reduces

Thirdly this surgery would probably cost him $30K+ if he was in the US and not insured. I'll take a couple days wait.

man some of you are ignorant

So are you saying they have to wait 4 days for inflammation and swelling to reduce for a torn quad or all the Dr's in northern Ontario are drunk?

Guilty. I am definitely ignorant to the intimate inner workings of hospitals and medical procedures. From your comment's I thought maybe you were well informed on the topic and educate us all a little bit.... or are you just as ignorant as I am but taking the other side just for the sake of argument?

Thanks for the wishes guys :).

I didn't explan myslefwell enough I had the surgery yesterday. But I had to wait a full 24hours to get it.

I'm recovering right now. It seems like I might get discharged tomorrow. It seems like there's not much organization here

I hope your road to recovery is a speedy one! Did they give you any idea how long it would take for a full recovery, or at least how long before you will be vertical again?

If you are in the u.s. and you have insurance then health care can be pretty amazing.
A 24 hour wait to reattach the tendon isn't bad at all.

Thats actually very quick as it is considered an emergency surgery. Anyone who has had tendon surgery would know that it must be done fairly quickly as the tendon will scar over with time and lose elasticity thus making re-attachment impossible. A few days is no problem...a few weeks can become an issue. With quadricep tendons however they would perform surgery as soon as possible not just because of mobility but other complications.

I'm such a pussy. I never push myself that hard to where stuff starts snapping off.

All these stories about people puking and shitting themselves and now stuff snapping off.

I best just go get myself a gazelle and a clip on pony-tail and be done with it.

Sorry to hear about your injury D.

It sounds quite aweful.

I did my first session of physio today.

my leg must be 50% smaller then the other lol.
and I can bend my knee about 30 degrees. I still need to wear my leg brace for another 3 week.

so everything is coming along nicely :)
