I was wanting to compete in the 2011 Canadian Natural Physique Championships in Laval in April. However, I am not sure if I qualify. I last competed in 2009 where I placed 3rd in my category at the 2009 Canadian Natural Physique Championships and missed competing in 2010.
Does anyone know if I am still eligible to compete in this contest under the CBBF rules? ..or would I have to re-qualify at the Ontario Naturals next year in September? I tried looking this up on the CBBF and OPA site, but there is no mention of this.

I think as long as you held an OPA membership, you'd be still qualified for the canadian championships. If you didn't have the membership, you can pay for the missed year. This is just what I understand from the rules - I could be wrong.

Once you're at National level you must qualify top 5 to keep your qualification. A 2009 3rd place finish would allow you to compete in 2010. It looks like you need to requalify at provincials which is after Nationals in 2011 (for Naturals) kinda stupid if you ask me. You also still need to pay for your OPA membership for the 2010 season as well as it all needs to stay concurrent.
I would still email Ron Hache to find out if this is 100% correct.

The way I see it, is if he needs to re-qualify, then there would be no need to pay for the 2010 season. If he doesn't need to re-qualify, then he would. When I re-qualified, it was because I was jumping from junior to senior category, so my qualifications no longer counted.
If you do need to re-qualify, it stinks, because you won't be able to compete until 2012 because of how OPA sets up the provincial show in fall. Ever since they moved the provincial show to fall, I had to stop competing in it because it would just never make sense in my competing plans. I would never want to do a show, and then do another 6 months later. ah well, regular nationals next!

Very true Steve, since there aren't any qualifiers to the natural Provincials that we know as of today then he wouldn't have to pay for 2010. However if they institute a multi level system like the non tested stream (which is the rumours) then he'd have to pay it to stay provincialy qualified.

^good point - never thought about it with the possible new multi-level system. With that said, I really think the best way is to contact both the promoters and the provincial reps to really get a good answer. Seems like there may be too many new variables to figure our whether your qualified or not!
