No use beating around the bush here with anyone, as i am sure it will be in the BC paper soon enough. Hell maybe it wont. But i am a honest guy so i will tell you all what happened today.

Both my fitness etc stores were raided by health canada today. The rcmp were there too just to maintain the peace.

they were looking for any fat burner made by westpharm nutrition, red rockets, and herbalean.

They did find a few red rockets, plus some odds and ends that arent allowed into canada.
I was not charged in the end and before everyone starts shooting their mouths off. I didnt snitch on anyone. Most of what they got was bought online in the USA. I was given a warning and the cops said u are a good guy in this community and this is your warning and get out of jail free card. Don't **** it up.

So i am taking their advice and both stores will no longer carry those items.

for anyone in the industry i want u to know this!!!
health canada can walk into your store and search the entire place without a warrant! They dont need one, i had called a lawyer and he said the food and drug act allows them to do this. All they have to do is suspect that u have these products in your store, whether thru a tip from the public, your website or just walk in and see them on the shelf.

Crazy i know. but i have the paper work from the lady who raided me and it clearly states it in the folder.

Live and learn i guess, but though others in the industry should know.

Wonder what lead them to think you had anything of the sort in your store to begin with?

They sent a decoy into my courtenay store and they bought the only bottle the old owner had left. after that followed the trail, same store name so maybe the other one has some too.

i had already taken them down off the shelves though, thinking they couldnt search without a warrant. oopps.

Food for thought

Well I am glad nothing more came out of it and glad you didnt have a large quantity of those items. Just not worth it in the big scheme of things.

Why you? Countless shops carry these products in full display or behind the counter.

Unless one is involved in criminal activities wouldn't ANY business need to be on the right side of the law?

Nope Health Canada just walks into them all. Even GNC in winnipeg has been "raided". A supp store was raided a few years ago in Thunder Bay and it was newspaper propaganda for a long time. The newspaper never even printed that the charges were dropped, as the products were all legal.

Well the conservative government has to find some way to fill all the new jails they are building for "unreported crime" and wasting our taxpayer dollars on.

I dunno about you, but I know a lot of people get a slap on the wrist for some serious crimes because there ain't no room at the crowbar hotel.

I will totall agree with Phsique as the same thing happened to myself and I owned to Reflex stores.
I also had health Canada and the FDA come at me for ordering from Europa Sports in the US. They were being watched for about 2 years and they had every single invoice, for the orders I had purchased. Europa got busted and the shit flowed down hill. I had to pay a heafty fine of almost 50k, one of the reasons I got out, it busted me.
