There was a big sting years back at Gateway, Canada Posts sortation plant in Mississauga. A group of Posties were caught ripping off mail.

Have a couple friends myself who work in the plants there as well. They said they see from time to time...workers being walked out by the Police in hand cuffs.

We had a guy here in the Hat who was taking all the mail from his route and hiding it in his garage. He never delivered anything for a couple of weeks. Mail fraud is a serious federal felony. Never hear what happened to him.

He didn't steal it. He just didn't deliver it.
My dad and brother work for Canada Post and say stuff like this has been going on ever since mail was invented.

Now that is the typical Canada Post bullshit union attitiude. I work with Canada Post on a daily basis, I'd estimate half their work force wouldn't last a day in the private sector, they act like they are untouchable and have no accountability, and basicly they are untouchable.

The only time here locally coming from the Supervisor at the post outlet/depot here where I live... they did the same. Set a camera up in a truck he was using to catch him stealing certain. As to what actually happens to these people for charges after, I have never heard. Federal offense my ass. Proably nothing but slap on the wrist.

No doubt... What does it take to deter these facks from stealing?
hang him.
I worked with a guy decades ago that had been fired from a big Toronto area sorting plant,he said stealing was rampant, they get to know what they are looking for.I had one go dead just after being checked in....if the return is bogus they've got it...

There should be thorough proper investigation at that facility.

Not just that one...all of them right across Canada......seriously.

True, seems Canada Post has not taken things to seriouly for a while now and not been doing proper investigation/traces when mail goes missing. Mail just does not vanish unless someone steals it.

I doubt (knowing what I know from relatives working in Canada Post) that a lot of the thefts go unnoticed unless someone blows the whistle.

I agree.
I had a lot of my mail go missing when I lived in Stratford (this was back in 1988/89). It turned out that a postie was not delivering all of the mail but hoarding the bulk of it in his basement. He would let a few things go through like bills, gov't cheques and the odd letter, birthday card etc but the rest was hoarded. I heard (through a friend living in Stratford) that he was arrested but I don't know what became of that. I never did get anything addressed to me but I had moved from Stratford and CP had no forwarding address for me.

Us...people need to more diligent on perusing Canada Post for more of a better explanation as to what happened other then here is your $100.00 consider it lost in the mail lol and for good sakes this is mail with tracking on it lol

i had a pack ripped off in toon town not to happy to say the least.c.p is a joke in there investigations i had to do all the investigating on my own.....shit is still being looked into but to me it's a fricken waste of time.....
Mr Ontario

Not sure who is looking after the investigative part. I know they have one lady that is pretty much useless in the system. The Trace Mail lady. All they do is pass one thing unto another person. Nobody wants to take responsibility.
I don't want to get into it , but they have some serious facked tracking/investigative or not sure you can even call it investigative procedures. They are pretty much useless , that it's frustration to even talk about.

I doubt this is widely known publicly but there are areas in Canada Post where they put mail that is lost or 'undeliverable' (as Canada Post puts it) and after a set amount of time it is opened and Canada Post employees can take whatever they wish.
More then 20 years ago, my father (who was a letter carrier at the time.....long since retired) gave me a set of silverware from Germany when I had gotten married. He told me that the set had came from the 'undeliverable items' bins. I never questioned it figuring it was a normal thing that CP did.

That set time is 2 years. Not sure if that take what you want policy is still in affect though :)

They put traces all over the place, etc....bunch of bullshit is what it is...

You ever get a so called trace lady from Montreal? Supposedly after her they passed along to Politics Agent , whatever they are suppose to do. What they need is internal police of some sort. or better yet...CAMERAS in these facilities to deter stuff from happening... nah that would make to much sense lol

Ya..did not get that either when they left me a message..Montreal lol I'm like what the fack can you do in Montreal is what I asked her. When it was stolen from another part of Canada. I said you need to call that facility like a week ago and speak to the supervisor to look for it properly... They are seriously screwed up... they do not know what to do...there is no proper protocol of a packages stolen.
