View Full Version : Critique my home made pre workout cocktail please

15 mins before training I will begin mixing the following supps (all from truesupplements.com):

5g Creatine Mono
5g Arginine AKG
5g Beta Alanine
100mg Caffeine
1000mg Green tea extract (approx 600mg egcg)

Was thinking of adding a greens shake and or some BCAA/Protein to this mix as well.

Basically Im sick of paying $40 or more on pre mixed pre workout boost products. I really like NO shotgun, but straight up its way too expensive, as all of the others are too.

What are your thoughts on this basic combo? I believe my dosages are modest but sufficient?

Any ideas / thoughts?

Bcaa I prefer intra w/o and what kind of proteins would you add to this?

Looks fine to me otherwise. And I hear ya about the NO Shotgun, awesome and great flavors bur for the $ of its too high.

I know I will be in the minority but IMHO would get rid of the caffeine. I found in the past that I would start to depend on the caffeine and my workouts would suck without it but wouldn't be measurably better with it.

Again that's just my experience though.

I would do the greens in the morning and bcaa's with the drink should be fine but protein may upset your stomach.

^^ i agree with your caffeine statement to a degree. I dont consume caffeine drinks or any caffeine related supplements except for right before my workout, so my tolerance to it seems to remain pretty low.

My logic is that if I stick to only taking it max once a day at this particular time, it is doubtful I will develop a tolerance to it. NO shotgun still hits me like line of coke every time I use it before a workout and Ive been using it on and off for several months.

On the advice on London Muscle I now drink my whey blend protein shake and carbs during my workout. I find this dramatically increases my pump in the gym and overall energy.

I go straight home always and eat a meal within about a half hour afterward, so Im thinking the BCAA's is probably overkill, and an unnecessary expense.

Man does beta alanine ever give me pins and needles though. About 15 mins after I take it I get a bit of anxiety and it feels like my skin is crawling and itchy.

i like that pins and needles thing, especially during leg day, find i go alot harder!
