Police have smashed a steroid lab operating out of a city home.

Five people are now charged after the discovery of a residential lab used to produce and package anabolic steroids.

“Despite people’s opinions about steroids and the use of steroids, the distribution and sale of it is illegal in Canada,” says Inspector Greg Preston with the city police Organized Crime Branch.

“What should be concerning to potential users is that it appears some of the steroids were being processed and packaged for injections in a makeshift lab in someone’s home,” Preston adds.

“As in any uncontrolled laboratory, there are no guarantees on the cleanliness or contents of the product being made.”

Officers with the Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Unit conducted a traffic stop and subsequent search on a 2009 Mercedes on Aug. 24.

A variety of anabolic steroids and prescription drugs worth about $40,000, three cell phones, $3,800 cash, and an extendable baton were seized.

The vehicle, estimated to be worth $70,000, was also seized.

The traffic stop initiated an exhaustive investigation that led to numerous search warrants over the following week.

On Aug. 25, a search warrant occurred at 141 Avenue and 136 Street along with the search of a vehicle leaving the home.

After a search of the vehicle, officers seized bags containing shredded documents and labels.

They also seized over $11,000 in cash.

An apartment on 129 Avenue and 64 Street was also searched. Officers seized a variety of illicit drugs in both liquid and pill form, worth an estimated value of $200,000.

And on Aug. 26, officers searched a home on 140 Street and 158A Avenue where they discovered what appeared to be a lab where the drugs were being mixed and packaged.

That same day officers searched a PO Box in Sherwood Park and seized over $3,000 in cash.

Finally, on Aug. 27, EDGE Unit officers conducted a search warrant on a safety deposit box at a bank in north Edmonton where they located $142,000 in cash.

That same day a search warrant was conducted at a home on 145 Avenue and 19 Street, resulting in the seizure of a Lexus and two Firebirds estimated at a total value of $130,000 and a utility trailer worth about $30,000.

The following Monday, on Aug. 30, a search of another safety deposit box in a north Edmonton bank resulted in the seizure of about $80,000.

The overall investigation resulted in the seizure of: $240,000 in cash seized as proceeds of crime; about $230,000 worth of offence-related property; and approximately $250,000 worth of illicit drugs, mainly anabolic steroids.

Troy Charles Fougere, 26, is charged with 24 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000; two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000; and one count of production.

Trevor Raymond Fougere, 25, was charged with one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Susan Ann Fougere, 52, was charged with two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Charles William Fougere, 53, was charged with three counts of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Brock Reginald Chichak, 25, was charged with one count of production.

The stupid part is, some of these searches were days apart, were obviously connected, and no one was smart enough to clean house instead of waiting to be raided.

It's hard to clean house when you are awaiting a bail hearing that you know was delayed so they could execute all of their search warrants...

"$250,000 worth of illicit drugs, mainly anabolic steroids."

mainly,, which mean? something else was there ? steroid alone they cant do much but if cokaine n even only 1 xtc there's , everything now count has madly illegal

conclusion : don't mix shit n steroid

"Finally, on Aug. 27, EDGE Unit officers conducted a search warrant on a safety deposit box at a bank in north Edmonton where they located $142,000 in cash."

bank not good , stay away , 85k + stay away , keep low income 25 less , they careless about steroid but that amount of cash,,,

That same day a search warrant was conducted at a home on 145 Avenue and 19 Street, resulting in the seizure of a Lexus and two Firebirds estimated at a total value of $130,000 and a utility trailer worth about $30,000.

where warrant start , tax invasion investigation, black market stay black market , any 10k_ legal transfer or deposit will b investigate

again not good , a bber buy freaking pharmgrade hgh to go bankrupt invest is in body no house or no expensive car, there's way to buy a house low key with a friendly accountant n do income tax report has a personal trainer inc

"Trevor Raymond Fougere, 25, was charged with one count of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

nothing will happen for them , fine , a year to be home at 11pm , no jail time

“As in any uncontrolled laboratory, there are no guarantees on the cleanliness or contents of the product being made.”

It seems like Rec drugs and AAS together is the combo that lands these dudes in deep shit. Not saying that aas is not going to cause any trouble especially with that much but it seems to be the rec drugs that get em all busted. I can think of a few cases close to home where the same thing happened. Dude gets raided for selling weed, coke, oxy etc but they end up finding the aas and using the aas as the main media headline.

And for the record i LOVE it when they say 250000. You know what 250000 dollars to them is. Take the price of one bottle sold to informant (ex. 150 bucks) multiply that by # of vials= 250000. In all reality it was probobly 50k worth but just exaggerated.

Ok, so *should* we/someone name the lab, for those who need confirmation? I know about the "no lab talk" rule, which I agree with...and the lab name is not mentioned in the article, so this is touchy. MP what say you in all of this.?

No lab talk is just that - no lab talk. If you want to discuss which lab it was then discuss over encrypted email, encrypted MSM...etc. Best not to mention it on the web. However, I'm certain it's been posted on some open source sites.

As blp said, don't mix shit and steroids together.

No doubt, you will get an infection for sure.

There is a lot of rumor and speculation surrounding this bust, might be best to see what comes out in the end rather than jump to conclusions about the guy's character. After all, he facilitated something you all support, profit or not. And who's to say he didn't get ratted out? You think the police found all the goodies through their superb investigation techniques stemming from a 'traffic stop'.

I would think his cell or pager started showing up on the logs of known gang members, and away it went.Listening in(Calgary has about 300 or so communications officers, maybe more now)signal triangulation, licence number observation at known houses or gathering points....gps loggers...

Million ways really.... Sometimes a traffic stop is just a traffic stop, sometimes it's a cover story to take the heat off the guy who sold him out..... dirty game for sure.
