My girlfriend has to complete some Practical Exam which costs $1200. I gave her the ok to use my credit card which was going to expire this year, July actually. She had sent all the information in May and finally in September, after my card expired, they decide to charge it and "Oh no! Invalid expiration date, you must pay an extra $75.00 for that". At the time the info was sent the card info was valid. Now they won't let her pay with my credit card and want a certified cheque.

So basically because they were too slow to process the information and charge my credit card on time, my girlfriend get's screwed over and has to pay more.

She just called them today and explained the situation and they basically told her "**** you, it's your fault, you must pay more, cash only!"

Just make sure to get a receipt and claim it on the tax return as "Educational materials"....

That sucks, but how did you not notice 2 months after your credit card expired that the charge wasn't on there? I tend to keep track of things like $1200 and if my card expired before it was on there I would have got on the ball about that rather than waiting 2 months to see what happened.

Hopefully she can come up with the cash and best of luck to her on the exam!

I find it much more persuasive if you actually go down there.

That was definitely an oversite on my part. However, it was one of those things where everything is filled in correctly, send it off and forget about it.

However, when trying to explain the situation to them, they had treated her rudely on the phone. Poor girl is sitting at home crying right now while I'm at work.

The place is in Toronto, and we're sitting in Winnipeg.

75$ isn't the end of the world. Shit happens all the time, sometimes its easier to just let things slide. I know the principal of it sucks, and stuff like this happens to me on a monthly basis (well, it used to - with rogers for example)....

You'll learn from this even though its not your fault. It's kinda like driving - you always have to watch out or anticipate for the anus drivers who are gonna cause you to get in an accident.

Here, you have to anticipate that when you give our your credit card number, that they better be cashing it before it expires, otherwise give a different card, or make sure to renew your card well in advance.
