Just wanted to say congrats to Jason Marcovici who competed this past weekend in the Detroit Pro 202. Just a bit of a background Jason tore both quadriceps tendons and bicep tendons several years ago and the Doc said he would be lucky to walk again. Jason hadnt trained legs seriously in years from fear of the injury and maybe causing more issues. For anyone who has had a serious injury you know how much of a mental block it can be. I started working with Jay last year and we started doing light box squats to build up some strength and confidence. After a few months we switched to regular squats and Jay worked up to 350 for full deep reps...a huge accomplishment from where he started from. After a decent off season we ran a 16 week pre-contest diet partial keto with a few subtle changes...and my unique loading protocol.
Things went beautifully and Jay was easily the hardest most conditioned athlete in the show. He didn't place top five but considering where he started from we were very happy with how he looked and he surely deserved top ten. I found it very odd to see how many big name guys showed up completely out of shape...remember these guys are the elite in the sport.
Congrats to Jay and job well done...we will see what the future brings. He already has a few requests for photo shoots and interviews.
