Is this exercise safe to do? I never read about weightlifers using it?

yes if you got no shoulder injury.i do my press with about 25 degree angle to avoid putting too much stress on my shoulder.

Should be safe. I personally use a decline hammer machine so I can sit up. Don't like the rush of blood to the head and it isn't great if you have high blood pressure but if your breathing is ok you shouldn't have a problem. Keep your elbows tucked in somewhat and bring the bar down to just below your chest. Should be fine.

I do them now and then. Puts a little strain on the shoulders but if you have no problems with shoulder injuries, it a decent exercise to do.

im the opposite of you guys. i find that when my shoulder is bothering me the decline bench is the most pain free pressing method.
try doing it with light weight and come up high close to your neck/clavicle

It actually decompresses your shoulders.
If you have a ****ed up shoulder may be the only thing that you can do and will not aggravate your problem.

I do them every work out. I get a pretty good pump when I do at least five sets...

Never did them but maybe I'll give it a try since my shoulder's been bothering me lately.

they are good if you are looking for a delt tricep movement, other than that they are pretty useless.

Tried them out yesterday. First I did Dumbell Decline (not much of a decline since I put a 25 pounder under a flat bench). My shoulder was hurtin a bit. Tried the barbell on a real decline bench. Shoulder was pretty much pain free. Does it work the lower pecs?

They always spook me so when/if I do them I use a spotter especially to unrack where I'm most vunerable. I like to do weighted dips instead, I think it's a lot more specific and intense and not as hard on my shoulders.

There is no lower pec, there is upper pec and just plain old pec.

Decline bench puts a lot of stress on the joints, if you raise the seat on any sitting machine press you can mimic the decline movement and it is safe. If your gym has hammer equipment then even better.
