Is there a free way of finding out your credit report/history?

Call equifax and ask them for it. I had to fax in 2 pieces of picture id and they mailed it to me within 2 weeks. It was free.

That's if you have something bad on it like bankruptcy or non payments. Non payments I think was 3 years. But a credit report is good to know how you stand on your credit rating and if someone else has stolen your identity and racking up bills that are non paid.

Yes you're allowed 1 free credit report per year, from all 3 major companies. These personal requests do not affect your rating either.

if you're in a rush you can pay a small fee and get it online immediately. Otherwise you could be waiting a while

I had to wait two weeks for mine and it came in some print that looks like it was formatted from the 80's. Equifax.

don't forget to get equifax AND trans union... there is different information on each one [I'm not familiar with the 3rd that someone mentioned but it's worth looking into; I'm sure it's legit but be certain it's legit before sending them your personal information]
