need opinions...
what kind of notice do you need to give if you've been at a job for month and now want to quit.
When you give your notice does it have to be written or is verbal fine?
(security guard job.. so i'm sure there used to employees bailing on them)
give at least 7 days by respect and always writte the notice with last day you are available to work

in the first 3 months (during your probationary period) I believe you the employer doesn't have to give you notice, and you don't have to give them notice either. You can confirm this if you like with your local labor board. It can be verbal notice too btw.. a simple phone call actually.

Did you sign a contract? Check there first as it's usually stipulated.
Also, give 2 weeks. You don't want to be a dick. It's a very small world and you never know who knows who.

Agree.
If you tell them your leaving in two weeks they may not want you to stay the two weeks, but at least you gave them the respect that is needed.

Should give 2 weeks notice, its just the right thing to do.
Unless of course theres circumstances that deserve less than that.

If its less than 3 months no notice is required.. If you can leave on good terms and don't burn bridges is the best way.. Here is the guides in ONtario

2 weeks. In my experience if your just moving on there are usually no hard feelings, they respect you, appreciate the notice and wish you well.
My last job I was working at for 5 years and left to go to school. I knew way in advance I was leaving so I gave my boss like 2 months notice so he had lots of time to find a replacement. On my way out the door he gave me a good luck card with $100 in gift cards inside it. He also hooked me up with work over the summer when I couldn't find other employment.
As everyone else said, its a small world and you don't want to start burning bridges, no matter how unimportant they seem at the time.

The same thing happened to me this summer, I was working at this place for almost 3 month and gave 2 weeks notice, it gave my boss time to find somebody else and my new boss said that I did the right thing not leaving my old job like a dick. So all in all give 2 weeks notice and everybody will be happy.
