Started last year and love it.... So close to the rockies( beautiful country)...it's almost crimial not to enjoy the fantastic oudoors...

We did Temple at the beginning of August...

Some stats of our trip

Sentinel Pass-Mt Temple
Mount Temple is the 3rd highest peak in Banff

The trip comprises two stages- Sentinnel Pass..then on to Mount Temple

Sentinel Pass- Mount Temple Statistics

Mount Temple
Distance- 4.0 km return
Average Grade- 46.7%
Elevation Gain – 979 m (3182 ft)
Start Elevation- 2611 meter ( 8486 ft)
Max Elevation – 3590 meters ( 11668 ft)

Sentinel Pass
Distance- 12 km return
Average Grade- 12%
Elevation Gain- 723 meters ( 2350 ft )
Start Elevation- 1888 meters ( 6136 Ft)
Max Elevation – 2611 m (8486 ft)

Total Trip
Distance- 16 km
Elevation Gain- 1702 m (5532 ft)
Max Elevation- 3590 meters ( 11668 ft)
Total Time- 10 hrs

Walking just cuts into my smoking, drinking and rec drug time SOOOO no I don't think I will be hiking anytime soon.....lol

Beats cardio on a machine.Used to do plenty on a mtn bike.How were your quads on the way down?

cool... I hike often i live right near a ski hill and theres a bunch of trails, scenery is very nice and it beats walking on a treadmill

yea you west coasters have it lucky, so much fun stuff to do outdoors - I actually lived there as a kid, so I know all about it ;)

i do hike queen st sometimes, then stop off for a coffee and look at the scenery in the summer LOL

I live in the remote north of ontario. I spend a lot of time outdoors I could never have a desk job.

Quads were good... cardio needs work ....

I found going once per week 2-3 thousand feet above normal makes a huge difference.More dedicated guys said twice a week is killer.

I found going once per week 2-3 thousand feet above normal makes a huge difference.More dedicated guys said twice a week is killer.
Last year I was going once per week....elevation ascent average about 750-1000 meters or so.... This year I just haven't had as much time.... I'm going to add some HIIT cardio to my program to progress.
