So after the worst ****ing day ever at work my rad hose decides to blow up on me AND in the middle of traffic no less:mad:
It's an easy fix, but it was a new hose so im left wondering if there is a larger problem with my cooling system that caused excess pressure to build up and pop that mother****er?
2 weeks ago the seal around the water pump was leaking only after the engine was shut off so I tried STOP LEAK and problem solved, but I guess not after all?
For the engine savvy out there what the **** you think happened? I would like to know before I blow 500 bucks on some scamer rad repair place.
What a shitty ****ing day:(

It's unlikely to be the result of a larger problem. A few guesses:
1) When was the last time you replaced your coolant and hoses?
2) Do you regularly keep your coolant topped up but within spec?
3) Were you driving aggressively at the time?
How exactly is a coolant flush and new hoses $500? It's an easy job for an afternoon, and could be done for the cost of parts = <$100.

Hoses are new and rad is refurbished.
Levels are always fine.
No I was driving normal.
Like I said I used stop leak because of a coolant leak that only leaked after the car was shut off. Maybe the hose was not new like it should have been cause i looked at it and it's ****ing cloth mesh in the middle not steel like I think it should be.
Im going to replace the hose tomorrow and see what happens. It's weird that it blew like that just out of the blue. What you think now bud?

Honestly... it could have just been some freak incident... but I'm not really sure tbh. Try a car forum perhaps, especially if you can find one for your make/model.

Its possible it was a manufacturing error and the hose was faulty from the factory. New parts fail all the time. Take it back to were the hose was bought with receipt they'll probably replace it for free if there is some type of warrenty. I've have to replace water pumps and fuel pumps that were only two days old before. So be thankful its an easy fix like a hose.

And never use that stop leak garbage its horrible for your cooling system. You might as well just pour molassas in your rad. If you have a leak it needs to be fixed properly. Also you said your water pump was leaking. If it was from the weeping hole in the bottom, its made to leak when the water pump is failing internally. Its the cars way of telling you to replace it. Not clog it full of goo.

This was my thought as well. What year/make/km is your car? Its fairly common for water pumps to need to be replaced and often not a big/expensive job (there are exceptions).
If it is the weep hole then its possible that the failing water pump isn't circulating coolant quick enough and allowing it to heat up and pressurize the system beyond what is normal, but still below "critical". Adding stop leak to the system may stop the external leak your noticing, but it also has a tendency to clog up small passages and cause the system to run warmer in the end.
Have you noticed the temp gauge running warmer then it has in the past?
It could just be a faulty hose, but why was the original hose replaced?
