So I bought half a cow from a buddy at work. He raises his own grass fed cows and was offering to split the meat with the guys at work. Some I got my first installment from the butcher the other day. 100lbs + of beef, lots of tbones, roasts, and ground beef, etc. I tried one of the roasts, taste is pretty good better than what I was buying at Costco.

All said and done price was $3.50 lb. Getting the rest next month. I guess this winter I will be bulking on beef.

I'm jealous.
I had a buddy who's mom raised grass fed cows in a pasture beside the house and every time I went over there we ate steak and it was so good. I also heard that grass fed beef has a fat profile lower in omega 6's and a lot higher in omega 3's. I don't know how much truth there is to this, but it sounds like a good idea!

$3.50 per lb seems like an amazing deal too, I think that's less than I pay for ground beef alone lol.

Good deal bro...Grass fed is the way to go...much better cla, and omega 3 profiles...I love the taste....It has a more yellowish fat, and dark red meat, as opposed to pale red, and bright white fat from grain finished beef...

Only one problem so far the deep freeze fills up pretty fast. Might need to buy a second freezer good problem to have I guess.

you should notice a big taste difference and for sure it is a better fat profile. one thing is that grass-fed tastes even better when it's been aged. I'm sure they aged your side before butchering but check it out for sure and if not let your steaks sit in the fridge for a week before grilling them...if that's at all possible.

So am I. I've been looking around for beef. I need something other than chicken and fish for this offseason. We go to Costco and buy the tenderloin for steaks but that's still expensive in comparison.
