Hello all, new too the site but revisiting the sport after many years, just completed a wieght loss program and lost 78 lbs, still some to go!!, need some advice on a few things,
Using isoflex whey protein but am unsure what other supplements to take if any, there seems to be alot of garbage around and dont want to throw money down the drain, but also know that hard work in the gym will bring results but can i enhance it with some quality supplements??
Not sure when to take my protein drinks, generally 1 scoop in the morning when i wake, two scoops in the afternoon, and then i scoop after a workout, is this about right or too little or not enough?
Sure this has been asked many times but would like some feedback if possible.
Thanks,
2 scoops for breakfast, 2 scoops during your workout should be enough as long as you're eating at least 3 whole food meals.
All you really need is
Protein, vitamins, greens powder, creatine, omega 3 oil, and a stimulant like caffeine if you choose.
Good job on the weight loss so far.

It will largely depend on your goals. It sounds like you are still trying to burn some more fat, if so I would look at:
-high potency multivitamin (time released if possible)
-Fish oil (great source of omega-3 fats)
-Glutamine may be worth a try as it works to help preserve muscle tissue which will be useful as you are cutting
-Isoflex is a great post-WO protein, but for your other meals you could probably save a lot of money by going with a less expensive whey powder.
Not sure when to take my protein drinks, generally 1 scoop in the morning when i wake, two scoops in the afternoon, and then i scoop after a workout, is this about right or too little or not enough?
-Fist thing in the morning is a good time because it is simple/quick to make.
-1.5-2 scoops with water and high glycemic carbs post-WO is great
during the rest of the day it doesn't matter as much whether you get your protein from a protein powder, meat source or what have you, as long as you get enough in to preserve your lean tissue every 2-3 hrs.

the fat free foods and low fat foods are higher in high glycemic carbs. I'd look at less processed food and more whole foods. The more processed a food is the more it tends to slow down your metabolic rate. Also CLA and other essential oils are good for you as they help your body burn fat. A few extra calories from the whole foods are ok, I prefer balkan yogurt as it is easy to flavour with real fruit but on a seriosu cut, I leave it plain and limit its intake. I also use cream on my oatmeal, as it has less carbs, and more flavour. IIRC thats a whopping 18 extra calories, but oh so tasty. I also find I feel fuller with less whole fat food then with the extra bit of low fat.
