Weight Gainer.

1. It has protein in it. So does protein powder; only it's pure.
2. Weightgainer has sugar and a bad source of carbs. It is VERY quickly metabolized which is very bad for your insulin levels.

Why not blend up some fruit with milk and slam that? No added sugar, high fiber, VERY healthy source of carbs that contain lots of nutrients and it costs ALOT LESS!!!

Buy some bags of frozen fruit and save you money and health.

I used to use skim milk powder with water, eggs and fruit; then my body decided to stop digesting lactose... I still apologise to friends and family

Only trouble with proper food is that it's time consuming to prepare and can be difficult to store and eat on the run... a couple of shakers with dry whey are fast and easy to prepare, transport and consume.

A good way to add some healthy calorie dense fats is to add 2-3 tablespoons of flax seed oil or olive oil to your shakes.

Dump frozen blueberries and strawberries in blender with milk. Very fast. Store it in shaker cups and take them along.

Actually, eggwhites naturally have alot of sodium in them. Pure whey powder is a great supp.

Some gainers have inulin in them, which i believe prevent the spike and crash of the insulin

Well, everyone eats bread. You know it and I know it. It's delicious. That alone equals waaay more sodium than you need per day. Why not buy a protein without sodium? I do.

good luck w/the bulk whey concentrate. you'll have that Suzuki dude cutting holes in your roof explaining that the gas from your ass is putting holes in the ozone layer or whatever. The lactose levels are going to make you very stinky!

As for sodium whey, ion-exhange is high in sodium, low in calcium. While CFM whey is the opposite. Whey is pretty close to a whole food if you ask me. And I treat it as such. BTw loblaws frozen 600g containers of blueberries are SOOOO yummy. My preworkout snack is nuked'till they are mush blueberries with some added homemade granola and a small protein shake with chocamine. Antioxidant loaded for the workout!

I could never understand paying a supplement company money for carbs mixed into the protein, when they are so readily available and cheap. You can eat fruit, oatmeal, bread, baked potato, etc. The only time it makes sense is for convenience. It may just be simpler for some folks to just add water to a powder and have the ready mixed "weight gainer" or creatine plus simple sugars and not have to carry more elements with them to the gym, for instance.

I have used weight gainers in the past, BUT now after learning a few things have realized that they are a waste of hard earned money. You want carbs, try some blended up oats and dextrose......you want some fats, try some flax oil....it's easy.

add almond butter to your protein shake and you get all the calories and good fats that you need.

16oz of milk, 1 banana, 2 tbsp of natty pb, 4-6 scoops of whey and 1/2-1 cup of oats in a blender, BAM! You wanna gain some weight, eat 2 or 3 of these a day.
