Just looking to get peoples opinions on waxy maize, and results gained, positive and negative. I was thinking about adding waxy maize to my protein shake post work-out along with creatine mono. Plus I was thinking about incorporating waxy maize in my carbo load phase for my marathon at the end of September. If anyone had used waxy maize as part of their training for long distance runs I would appreciate feed back on that as well. Thanks for you input and help or suggestions.

I found myself very bloated off of it and found no difference between it and maltodextrin.
In my opinion it is over marketed and over hyped.
I'm a big believer in 50% Dextrose 50% Maltodextrin for post work out. Although I've never tried it, I am tempted to agree with UBCPower: seems to be over hyped...
I like it and didn't find any bloat at all.

I tried it for a solid 8 weeks, I didn't really like it, I used the Species brand and the ON brand. I think regular dextrose did a better job for myself at a lower cost.
But just like training and drugs, nutrition is very individual. I know guys who use ground up oatmeal pwo, it doesn't give the spike, but they still use it.

I think it's ok but I'm cheap and so is dextrose,

i have run all three carb sources for long periods of time and always end up coming back to dextrose. On paper WMS looks like its the king of high molecular weight carbs and best for shuttling nutrients PWO but i find for me i cant handle the chalkiness taste it has. Also i don't get the feeling of fullness in the muscle with WMS as i get with dextrose. Also like tiramisu says WMS is usually 2 times the price of dextrose and they cause similar effects on the anabolic window of opportunity.

It all depends on the brand...Ive had some really bad ones in the past...I prefer the original product carried by Art Atwood, not sure if it is still available. Species is decent as well. I prefer it over dextrose as it is easier on the stomach...dextrose tends to really fatten guys up I find...as a second choice malto is better.

Myself, I prefer WMS over those other wine making sugars like Maltodextrin and Dextrose. As I am a sugar sensitive type and have gained fat and water off of Malto and Dex. With WMS, being a fast acting, sugar free, complex carb, I get all the benefit from the fast acting properties but no water or fat gain like I would get from those other 2. I get very good muscle fullness, without the stomach upset. IMO WMS, even though its more expensive, it is worth the extra $$ for all the benefits I get from it without the cons. For me its like buying a higher quality protein opposed to going with the cheaper, yet still effective one. Yes, you are still getting protein in you, but there is going to be some lower grade proteins, soy, and fillers that will cause some minor side effects like gas, bloating, poor mix-ability, etc..... I would prefer to go with something that doesn't cause me any problems and that does an amazing job!

I agree!
I use PVL's brand and never had issues with their waxy maize.
Also with waxy I can take it a couple hundred grams of it and have no issues, lets see someone do that with dextrose and tell me how you feel.

I got really bad gas on this stuff. I got a watermelon falvoured kind and my farts smelled like a nazi death camp combined with a church picknic

I like using LG's POSTAL, tastes great and has waxymaze plus a few more carb sources in it.

That's quite an image!
I'd say the major drawback with wms is the chalky consistency...i made a mess all the time with it

haha well combined with my powdered egg white shakes I would not want to smell those.
Yeah I had the same issue. Every time I opened the container or put the powder into the blender it went all over.

I started out by taking WM post workout with protein powder and creatine mono, I was surprised at how well everything actually mixed with little or no clumping when mixed in a blender, even the shaker cup did a fairly good job. Today I took a scoop of WM with a caffeine pill pre-workout and was surprised at the results, lots of energy and focus and was able to get in a few more reps at the end of sets. I am going to stick with one scoop pre and one scoop post and see how things go, so far I have nothing negative to say about Waxymaize.

I like postal from LG for post workout and during cardio or gust genrally wanting carbs in my bcaa's or protein I use dextrose.
I love Nutrabolics Waxybolic. Don't get any bloat. I use it post workout with my protein shake.

I first experimented with waxy maize 2300 by allmax nutrition i believe. I found that it did in fact make me feel slightly bloated and to feel unsettled and didn't like the chalky taste it gave to things i was adding it into so i cut it all out together and just focused on eating more carbs to make up for the deficit. 2 years later i thought i would begin to incorporate another waxy maize type product into my routine to help boost my carb intake to help with adding some new size before my next competition cut down. None the less, it's Waxybolic by Nutrabolics, has anyone tried it before? what are your thoughts if you have any. I find it very beneficial because i can take in large dosages of it and i feel more full and stronger while supplementing with it, and my usually uneasy unwelcoming stomach tends to hand it very well!

I've used it a couple of times but the brand i used tasted horrid and gave me cramps and gas. Until i can afford to use real Vitargo, i will stick to dextrose during/post workout.

I used WMS, and I have used a lot of Dextrose. I have noticed no difference in gains from WMS, but You can add way more calories PWO with dex, and it certainly does do the trick at a fraction of the cost. Dextrose ftw! lol

Alex Wilson = another Nutrabolic shill. Treat his "review" with skepticism.

The new Karboload from Trueprotein is awesome, it's the same as the popular Karbolyn I believe. I use it, I like it. No odd texture it mixes well and tastes good. Watermelon flavor. No boat or gi issues.
