Mind me asking how you're dealing with it?

Post surgery I did great - I really hit the Wobenzyme (5-8 three times a day on an empty stomach) and took EPA/DHA 5:1 ratio - 5 caps 2-3 times a day with meals). I also run an integrative medicine clinic so I had regular access to osteopathy and acupuncture. However after the initial wolverine healing period I found it really difficult to rehab the knee and get back into cardio and a routine without pain/swelling. It's been six months and it's still a weak link. For example, I added some lunges yesterday and today it's swollen and I'm limping (SO frustrating). I found that if I am consistent with avoiding things that aggravate it, and I use a portable IMS machine briefly before the gym to activate the quads/VMO I am pretty good.

I can't recall your injuries? Tendonitis right?

actually turned out to be a partial tear in my bi and tendon rupture in my elbow.

But I also have knee pain from years of sports (football, hockey, rugger) and heavy squatting. Arms are getting better but really having issues with the knees lately. So was curious how you were coping with it and maybe something I can do to help it as I really don't want to stop training them (as pitiful as it is the leg training I am doing lol)

For you I would say that a cycle of Adequan a couple times a year would be a HUGE help for you. I find wobenzym is incredible, along with the EPA/DHA 6:1 ratio fish oil capsules in order to reduce inflammation. I would also reduce any foods that cause inflammation in the body - everyone is different but for many it's wheat/gluten, rye, dairy etc.

I do have some adequan left over from last years prep which T recommended. I stopped taking it after but think I'll get back on it.

Stuff stings like a mofo tho! lol

Gonna increase my fish oil caps too!

Thanks TR :)

What's adequan ?

What's adequan ?
Adequan
Chemical Name: Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan (PSGAG)
Drug Class: Injury Repair Agent
Adequan is a water based injectable which has been available for a long time for the purposes of joint repair, but never really caught on in the bodybuilding world. In the world of athletics, it was rumored that a very good international rugby team (with a low injury rate) were using loads of Adequan. This seemed to make sense, because while it was not approved at that time for human use, the country that team was from had a very big market for horse racing…and that’s what Adequan was originally used for- repairing joint injuries for injured racehorses. Aflutop, another joint remedy, is more widely available and has recently replaced Adequan on the underground market, for the most part- but that doesn’t mean that Adequan isn’t worth looking into.

Although Adequan works well to improve traumatic joint injuries, it seems much better at improving degenerative or long term, joint problems. It works well enough for either, though. When we look at treating joint problems, a lot of times we immediately look to NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory stuff like aspirin, etc...) to be used in conjunction with physical therapy, but that’s not the optimal treatment according to current research. Although the aspirin (or other NSAID) will help with pain, it could delay the recovery time. Adequan doesn’t and actually helps to improve range of motion and flexion as well as being able to increase synovial fluid. In all treated subjects in test-studies, Adequan improved their joint injuries.

Metagenics makes a brand called "6:1" fish oil and I believe Poliquin also makes it. You can use it for a brief period (1-2 months) on this ratio for acute inflammation. It works VERY well. We have all our patients on it at the clinic who are dealing with various inflammatory conditions. For acute conditions dose at 5 pills 2-3 x a day before reducing the dose to 2-3 pills twice daily with food.
