View Full Version : casein with low amino profile ?

I take ON casein at night but just becoz am low on budget i take half of scoop.. now i noticed that if i take half scoop it also cuts aminos in to half which to me seems like bad bioavailability.. is that true ? if it is, can i add little of bcaa from my side will it make it rich in amino back again?

It will cut the amino's in half if you cut the serving in half. If you have the money to add BCAA's, why not just use a full scoop? Or eat some 1% cottage cheese with the 1/2 scoop of casein.

BCAA's are cheap ... like 10 bucks per month casein cost me 40 bucks per month if i use full scoop

Yeah bro... casein is pricey, and if you can get it in bulk, cottage cheese is totally the way to go. Try your local Real Canadian Superstore. You can also get dirt cheap milk/yogurt/eggs there if that tickles your fancy!

Low fat cottage cheese is better. Or use a 100% pure whey isolate and slow the transit time with an added essential fat and some fibre....much better quality and bio-availability...not to mention much easier on the stomach.

man this pisses me off ... i was thiking to do same .. i took cottage cheese last nite and there yu go ! this morning i had all watery poop... i dont understand i had no problems in my whole life time with any type of diary no matter what dose i took, but with just little cottage cheese and am done :mad:

That's slightly odd. In terms of lactose intolerance, casein should be easier. In terms of milk protein allergies, it's harder. You may have an allergy to milk protein if you have similar issues with whey protein. This is distinct from lactose intolerance in that LI is merely the inability to digest milk sugar whereas milk protein allergies are the inability to process protein.

Some people also have unique issues with casein specifically. It may also be a sodium-related issue... unlikely, but a possibility.

The reason I say it's odd is that cottage cheese is easier to digest than regular milk and such for people with lactose intolerance. CC is how I cured my lactose intolerance, by slowly building up a tolerance from a spoonful to 1KG a day.

How are you with the protein powders? Whey and MC? How bout all different types of dairy? Are yogurt/cultured products easier? Give us the whole scoop (pun intended) and we'll get you sorted out!

Once you get older most just cant handle dairy anymore...dont worry about it...use whey isolate and add some natural almond butter...mucho better.

Bro am all good with anything.. whey casein egg protein even yogurt... its just just Cottage cheese that gives me watery poop :(

Try the unsalted stuff. The heavy sodium could be messing with you. Safeway has it... look for a light blue in the cottage cheese section. Any issues at all with soy sauce or miso soup or anything else super-salty? Worth a shot!

It may be a soft cheese thing as well... have you given Ricotta and Feta a shot ever?

As for being 20, that's just around the time that LI and dairy issues start to change. I was lactose intolerant severely until I turned 20 just last fall. I now throw down more dairy than most of my friends do. Gallons upon gallons of whole milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, and ricotta from time to time.

i dunno im gonna check with taht too ... i never had bowel issues with anything except for CC.. whats feta and ricotta ? do they have same nutritions as CC ?

Ricotta is a very desserty, but pretty high in fat as well. Feta is another variety of cheese, originating from Greece - often from sheep or goats, it's what you find in "Greek" salad and "Greek" pizza. Fairly acquired taste.

I bring out the examples because they're two other types of soft cheese. AKA the opposite of parmesan.

Ricotta potentially could be, though it's not really ideal for it. I don't think pre-bed feta would be pleasant at all. If you have no luck with unsalted CC, then you'll probably be stuck with fattened whey protein or something of that nature.
