Leigh made Lightweight, Slin_shady made heavyweight, and I believe P22 is a super heavy. Dryvrgrl rocking the CBB shirt.
If anyone has any pics, don't hesitate to post em up.

Larry Vinette will be a Light Heavyweight.

Hey, the girls in the HW division are awesome but I`d have to say not as good as last year. I held a client back this year to put more girth on but she would have been OK for first time...definitely would not have been embarrassed...but the HW guys...wow...great job fellas...some hard work has really paid off and it`s a showdown....

How many pro cards will they be handing out? It makes sense to me that if the HW division is the most competitive the overall should go to someone in that weight class. I was just reading that Marlon John weighed in at 277. Would have been nice to see him come in closer to 260.

just because a class is competitive, doesn't mean the card will go to them. A stand out superheavy winner would make it a less competitive class but that person could be the overall winner....
For example, last year, the most competitive class was middleweight. It just means it is the class where the top 3-4-5 spots are not clear as day.

A special mention to the members on CBB that competed at the event. Mark Richman, Ron Parlow, P22 (good to have followed your posts for your prep leading to the show), DK for your ever up to date log that got a huge following. My first Canadian Nationals was an awesome experience. All the elite athletes out here are all genuine people who all have full-time careers, most with families, and still find time to compete at a National Level for the love of the sport. It was truly an eyeopener to see all the top men and women bodybuilders in Canada. Even just coming off an overall win in BC just wasn't enough to stand toe to toe with these guys. A special thank-you goes out to Loutfi Ajaoun who took the time out to chat with me and give me some helpful tips (and calm my nerves).
The next 4 pics are of the light-heavy weights. Going from left to right, i am the 3rd guy in.(I did not make the first call out) and the 4 after are of the mens overall. Congrats to all! Off season training starts in September for the 2011 Canadian Nationals in Montreal!

Paltrow is suffering from Bride's Maid syndrome. With only 1 pro card at the nationals it gets really tough. Hopefully he manages it at the North Americans. He is both good enough to compete in the small pro shows and a good representative of the sport.

I spoke with him yesterday, he didn't know his placing but knew he was outta the top 5. Jordan Janvier a former Ottawa lad was 6th and very unhappy with how flat he was, figures he was 10lbs lighter than he shoulda been min. Hassan has the condititioning down pat, he just needs to keep pushing and add another 10lbs to his frame and I think he'll do very well!

we made it back! sheeeet, was the past couple days ever exhausting! (doesn't help to have had 2 hrs cardio and eating nothing but egg whites and a bit of brown rice!)... but anyway, glad I could have been of some assistance to y'all!
Great show! Overall I was pleased with the judging... I think for the MOST part, the people I thought would win.. did. I'm kinda waiting on score cards for a few calls though.. I mean, I know conditioning is a big part of the sport, but I kinda put a bit more stock in actual body BUILDING over a competition to see how good your dieretics are... and a couple times it was leaner unproportioned pple who took it over mass and symetry (however, with the most obvious case of this complaint, I do have a biased opinion!!)
I was making alot of noise for all the cbb.com guys I recognised, so ummm.. sorry if I called out your user name instead of your real name a few time (cough cough Slin shady)
Delt King is a sexy bitch!! I felt bad he was in a competition by himself, you clearly could have won over some REAL competition, and really embody what I see as the "classic" look! Good job!

To me Ron looked great. He just didn't look better than his competition. When there is only 1 pro card a year for the overall winner there is not much glory in second place. The Canadian system is tough for top 5 guys. Imagine how it feels to be a light-heavy or a middle weight.

Hey guys,
Just got in off a long day of flying, and still not rehydrated, with 2 hours sleep after the show, before packing up.
Wanted to give a huge thank you out to everyone who showed their support, and all the people that came and spoke kind words with me during the course of the show.
The show was run extremely well, with volunteers, coordination and event staff being top notched. The competitors at the show were great as well and had the pleasure of talking with a lot of the guys, and sharing some great comradarie backstage. Still hasn't totally sunk in, but get a bit weapy when I think about it every few hours :)
I love my home here at canadabodybuilding and look forward to giving some more info this week on my plans for a pro debut. I am not going to be a guy who doesn't use his card by no means, just speaking with my trainer to plan out the best course of action to make sure I get enough added mass to stand up there with the pro league.
My plan is to be extremely interactive here on the forum and blogging so you can see the transformation I plan on making over the next X number of months, from my bulk up to my contest prep, from workouts to eating, as I do things a little different than most I believe, learning from my friend and trainere/nutritionist Salim Satir.
Going to get some rest,, have a 2 week brokers licensing course starting in the morning, and look forward to the strange looks from my orange soaked protan banana hands right now, haha.
Give you guys an update soon and thanks again for kind words, honest critiques and reports.
Jason (Prisioner) , Thank you for everything. I look forward to meeting up again in the future. You are a great guy and really appreciate the help you gave me and my wife during the show. All the best to you in the coming weeks.

I don't get it
First off congrats Slin. Those that win always deserve to. After all it is the judges votes that count, not the popular picks the crowd may have. That's not to say you weren't one of those too (heard you rocked the house)
My humble opinion on Ron is he will find himself in the bride's made role continually until he can dramatically change his physique. It was mentioned it has been the same judges for over a decade (not my words) well then I think they know what they want and the package Partlow brings isn't it. I believe this was his 11th attempt. He may get harder or bigger (slightly) from year to year but some fast googling shows a competitor who hasn't made much changes over the years. It is becoming more common for guys to win who are doing Nationals for only their 1st or second time. More importantly Ron gets out muscled (in thickness not width) by "smaller" guys - with fresher looks - every year; be it in his class or lighter ones. I don't know the man and hear nothing but how great a guy he is but with only one first place in 11 attempts it is a bit of a stretch to say he is long over due. Dan Dufresne had to win his class 5 times before they gave him a pro card. That was what I'd call over due.
Perhaps the panel has just grown accustomed to expecting the same presentation from him and then a "New Guy" or less common one makes a greater impression. Last year I thought after they handed out only one card to Mike Van Wyck and passed on giving a second card they were sending a clear message (in their political way) that Ron was not providing them with what they wanted. For what it's worth & again IMO last year was his best.
As for the 2009 North American's; Ron said himself he looked better than he did at the Nationals and placed out of the top 5. Don't believe that is his ticket to THE SHOW either. Seems Canadian male competitors get passed over in such a predominantly American Show.
Hope these words didn't come across as a bashing, those are just my observations, from an old dude who loves the sport and has followed it for many years. Personally I'd really like to see Ron come in at a ripped 275 - 280; that just might put an end to his string of losses and bring him that Canadian Crown Jewel. WHat I don't want to see is for him to do it as a master. Having said that I have no idea how close he is to that category. I'm just making an assumption on the # of times he's been at the National level. That would just be anti climatic and a shallow victory for a true warrior of the iron sport.

I think Ron is a trooper he has such a positive attitude even after all this time coming so close. Ron is a big dude with a very large frame so he has oodles of room for growth. I think that is the key for Ron to take this Championship by storm. He seems to have the conditioning down so maybe taking a year off from competing and really get some thickness packed on to have a nice fresh look for the judges. The judges have to be surprised when Ron comes out on stage. I think at this point it dosen't matter how ripped he comes in he needs to pack some muscle mass on that huge frame to blow the judges away without sacrificing his conditioning.
He is great for the sport and I hope he really sits down and thinks about taking some time off to get that size on and to give himself a fresh start mentally and physically.

here's an odd question: when do you say enough is enough and move onto other things instead of chasing a dream that, right now, seems like it will never be a reality?
Take that year or 2 off to come back and retool but lets be honest here, he's never going to amount to anything on a pro stage. He's getting way to old to do any real damage. I can't imagine how much money he's spent in the pursuit of a pro card but I sure know that if I was doing all the work and forking out the cash for nothing in return I'd be questioning why I am doing this.
I remember Fouad questioned whether bodybuilding was right for him leading up to his pro card win. He figured that getting denied a few times maybe it just wasn't in the cards. Ron has been a serious contender for what, 6-7 years now?
Gotta feel for the guy that's for sure.

here's an odd question: when do you say enough is enough and move onto other things instead of chasing a dream that, right now, seems like it will never be a reality?
I guess this is the whole other question that he will have to think about. But then again he truly loves competing and maybe getting a pro card is enough satisfaction for him.
Look at the SHW winner and the changes that he made. In 2008 we competed together in the HW class and he was tied for last in the class. Props to that guy!

Nate.. the same can be said about anything in life... I mean, the guy passed up for promotion at work, the actress who doesn't get the lead role, any athlete really... it's passion that drives people...
I don't know Ron (except that he has stellar taste in music! CLUTCH ROCKS!!!) but it might no even be about making money as a pro bb... it might just be about winning it.. I dunno... every time someone tells me I "can't" or I'm not "good enough"... I push harder to prove them wrong...

I was looking at it more from a time/financial point of view. It's frigging expensive to compete at the national level. Travel alone is expensive and then factor in everything else so to spend ALL that money and never get what you're searching for.
Maybe it is more about the end goal for Ron. Finally getting what he worked so hard to get and then calling it a day but to keep showing up year after year and not getting it done you'd think he'd seriously question what needs to be done and I think the guy hit the nail on the head. Take a break from competing and make the adjustments and gains to get the job done.
I hope he can get what he's fighting so hard for. I believe he deserves it.

I can't think of anyone who has made a successful career out of amateur bodybuilding. If I'm wrong I'd like to hear about it. Does anybody remember Greg Kovacs??? His was a memorable career, not! I agree Natenator; time off & rest is a bodybuilders best friend. Correct me if I'm wrong but Santana's last show was 2006, no? Big changes that paid off, and somewhat of a real life to enjoy in those years off I bet.
Once a guy or gal gets his Pro Card then is the time to do multiple shows per year and get what you can out of the experience. These Pro's are also expected to make serious gains during that time. Unless the card comes your way before age 30 there is not a lot of time to pick and choose and take the growing time. By all accounts a competitors value (contracts & sponsorships) is in facetime and appearances. When amateurs have a whole year to prepare for one show and only make marginal gains it is a good reflection of where they will land if ever given the chance in the IFBB ranks.
Here's some food for thought. Ron's situation reminds me of Mr. Bob Cicherillo. His amateur record was:
1987 NPC Nationals Heavyweight, 5th
1989 NPC Nationals Heavyweight, 4th
1989 IFBB North American Championships Heavyweight, 4th
1989 NPC USA Championships Heavyweight, 2nd
1990 NPC Nationals Light Heavyweight, 5th
1993 NPC USA Championships Heavyweight, 8th
1995 NPC USA Championships Heavyweight, 15th
1996 NPC Nationals Heavyweight, 8th
1999 NPC Nationals Heavyweight, 2nd
2000 NPC USA Championships Super Heavyweight & Overall, 1st (PRO CARD)
After this he competed for 3 years in the IFBB only cracking the top 5 twice in 8 shows I believe. Met Bob and he's a great guy but a bit bitter IMO in hindsight about what took so long and how little it amounted to.
Compare to Ron's amateur record (Pro qualifying shows)
2000 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 2nd
2001 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 5th
2002 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 3rd
2003 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 2nd
2004 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 4th
2006 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 2nd
2007 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 1st
2008 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 2nd
2009 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 2nd
2009 IFBB North America Championships, 6th
2010 CBBF Nationals Super Heavyweight, 2nd
I'll say this, the man is clearly endeared to the sport! He is one of a kind when it comes to tenacity. Just wonder if it is passion that still drives him or fellowship?
I guess Ron Parow has his reasons and those are the only ones that count. We are all entitled to our opinions; good or bad but at the end of the day a man has only himself to answer to. Let's hope Big Ron is honest with the one person that counts the most.
Best of luck to Ron at the 2010 N.A's. You have a whole country rooting for you!

Yes, but the point is... the guy that doesn't get the promotion is probably going to go get another job if he gets passed on enough, the actress.. she is going to eventually find a job after enough passes on roles, there's a fine line between not giving up, and its not going to happen. Its like Kevin Levrone said when he retired. " I realized they were never going to give it to me " maybe this is the case for Ron.. hopefully not I'd love to see the guy get it.. but like i said, theres a fine line between not giving up, and chasing a dream thats not going to happen.
Yes 2nd place can be a big motivator as can proving people wrong.. yes its great for motivating you in the gym and in life but eventually you have to look at real life, and unfortunately you have to accept what you see. but some time off for Ron could see big changes happen I wish the guy all the best, and hopefully next time out is his time

I totally see your point sean and nate.. Im sure whatever Ron chooses to do, will be the right choice for him... I am personally rooting for him though...:yeah... he's young!! lots of time... if he took a year or two and came back, he'd still be young! I wish him the best!
I am anxiously awaiting scores to be posted. Both for Ron's class, as well as a few others.
You know... after one of these things is done... you can't help playing "what if.." like "what if we used a different colout".. "what if I would have smiled more"... "what if I dind't cramp"... "what if I would have done more cardio"... or whatever... Everyone who stood up on that stage is amazing! and you all deserve alot of credit!
I think Leigh is going to take a year off and get bigger up top. She has legs like an oak tree!! we gotta get her top half to match... which iMO translates into 6 to 10 pounds up top. Just trying to process what that means as far as training, diet and weather thats even possible as a "natural athlete".

People...lets give Ron some breathing space. He trains and diets his ass off for years, goes to the show in great shape and gets beat out by a guy who "obviously did the same". When Ron gets his feedback from the judges, he with those that are close to him, I don't know if he has family, will have to sit down and make some very hard decisions with respect to his bodybuilding future as a competitor...and those of you in the game know that is not going to be easy. Everyone wants to win and when it's time to leave, they want to do it on their terms...lets give him some space and let him reflect a little...it may take months or longer to make a decision and that still may not be final. He knows his body and the work he has to endure to make the necessary changes...if he really needs to and it's obvious from posts here that people think there needs to be changes. Personally, I'd like to tell Ron you looked awesome and it is most guys dream that read these threads to one day look like that...and congrats...for second. We are all super excited when an athlete wins silver at the Olympics... You are a Canadian BB icon no matter what the judges score cards say. Good luck and all the best in your future endeavors...no matter what they are as a person with your obvious work ethic will succeed in whatever they pursue.
This is what happens when you get a "peoples choice" athlete....and we are all forgetting the young man who won the supers...I don't see anyone saying congrats to him or talking about his stage presence other than DGRL letting us know on show night on this thread that his conditioning was "spot on".....you looked foggin awesome and a super congrats to you ...you have a fantastic future ahead of you in the great sport of BB...and as you can tell from the post there are some passionate people out there who love the sport...we all admire your efforts to achieve what you just did...can we get some posts maybe about how this guy looked awesome and really rocked the show as he was an obvious "surprise winner"....cause he trained and dieted his ass off...
That will be all for the lectures today...lol...thanks

6-10 pounds of competition weight may take Leigh 2 years as a full blown natural. That's a lot of muscle.

trust me,
10 pounds of muscle won't come in 2 years natural unless you just picked up a weight yesterday. also, 10 pounds is ALOT on anyone, let alone someone who is 115 to begin with. Don't make the mistake of trying to be 5 pounds heavier next year, because it will likely mean your 3-4 pounds softer.

I agree with you. People don't fully understand what 5,10lbs translates into.
When I talk to kids who want to put on 10lbs during the summer I tell them it's impossible. I tell them to go to the grocery store and buy 5lbs of ground beef and then I tell me to put some on their chest, shoulders, legs, back, etc. They'll quickly see just how much 5lbs looks on their frame.
Then I tell them to get those 5lbs they need to not miss a single meal, eat 6-7 meals a day every day, go to the gym 5 days a week and literally kill their body, to not go out and drink with their friends and to get as much sleep as humanly possible.
If they do all that they might gain 3lbs. 5 is a whole nother world of hurt lol

As for big Ron....Many of you post in the sense that it is the judges not "giving" it to him. To get a pro card you have to earn it. Yes, Ron is awesome, but you have to remember, competing year after year will not guarantee you a top spot. "Paying your dues" will also not get you a card. I saw the pics, and yes, Ron looked equally as good as he ever has - slightly more ripped even. But there are always up and comers who will steal that spot from him unless he puts on a lot of muscle AND keeps his conditioning.
As mentioned, a couple years away from dieting may be the best thing to do at this point. Otherwise, there will be some up and comers who will steal the show year after year. Especially because the overall winners of the future will likely continue to be even bigger and better than the overall winners of yesteryear.
On another note, I don't think the 2nd card was not given because the masters are in 2 weeks. Masters were always awarded a card and that won't change. The 2nd card is given when someone is deserving. If they had to give another card, it would have likely been the SWH or the 2nd place heavy. And since the 2nd place HW will likely win in 2 weeks, the judges I am sure felt no one else was quite ready to get that card.

Big congrats to Santana and Jason(prisoner) and Chris White who offered kind words to me, you guys are awesome. Also big thanks to Joan Kenney (middleweight winner) for the support at the show.
congrats to everyone that competed!! i had a great time at this show and got a few members on this board. Hey Delt King, i have to agree with you that Patrick B should have the other pro card, he has a great physique and would do well in the 202 class. Also shout out to Santana, congrats, had the pleasure of meeting him at the athletes meeting, super nice guy! Jason (Prisoner 22) I met in person there. He is a very great guy, looked unfreakingreal. The guy was massive, shredded, and very symmetrical. He did awesome. Coco (Dryvgirl) was so much fun to watch the morning show with and was a such a great spirit. Awesome girl and fun as can be! Fabiola should have gotten first place. In my eyes, and many other people I went with, and spectators sitting around me had their comments as well about the woman's heavyweight overall. I feel bad for Fabiola as she had the complete package, not a single weak point on her body at all, had a crazy deep 6 pack standing completely relaxed. Had feathered striated quads, I can go on for a long time about this but I won't. Amazing show, AMAZING competitors in each class. Ron Partlow was insane, incredibly shredded, massive, etc..... Looked his all time best!! Santana Anderson deserved his overall win. The guy was SO damn dense, thick, shredded, the complete package. He'll make an awesome ambassador for the sport! I had an awesome time at the show, felt very good about my sponsor ship for the show. Provided all the competitors with the competitor packs and as well prize bags for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placings. Fouad Abiad and Ben Pakulski were in attendance. They looked very good. Probably needed 2 seats on the plane to get there as their shoulders wide was so damn wide LOL. Those are 2 big mofo's, 2 class acts, and nice as can be! Wish I wasn't so busy there with my booth so I could have taken some pics with them. Oh well, maybe next time.
