Sorry i forgot to say congrats 4031 you looked like one freaky welter weight. And it looked like you were having fun with always a smile on your face. Keep up the good work bro.

congrats to everyone that competed!! i had a great time at this show and got a few members on this board. Hey Delt King, i have to agree with you that Patrick B should have the other pro card, he has a great physique and would do well in the 202 class. Also shout out to Santana, congrats, had the pleasure of meeting him at the athletes meeting, super nice guy! Alot pros were at the show and i got the chance to make to Ben P seminar the following day and that was very cool, learned alot of good training tips

thanks

Congrats Slin, you looked great and deserved the Pro Card!

I like Ron and he looked his best ever, good job Ron!

I agree with others that it would be a good idea for Ron to take a year off from competing, maybe a bit of time off from training and then a long off-season in order come back dramatically better. Although I know he wants his pro card badly I am sure he's satisfied in knowing that this was HIS best package ever!

Loufti looked great and deserved the SH win, good job Loufti!

Yes! Congrats to Loufti you looked amazing man, and did deserve to win SH class. There were just so many damn good competitors on that stage. Congrats to all of you, as everyone in the audience was in awe of how amazing you ALL looked! Very inspirational! Coco should have gotten a trophy though.... As the funniest and LOUDEST audience member LOL!! Again, had an incredible time meeting you all! :beer

i see melody and fabiola tied for first. i assume it came down to the head judge to break the tie then. curious who the head judge was??? as i heard it was helen bouchard, and thats melodys trainer.

anyone confirm this??? if its true, thats a blatant mis use of power. as fabiola clearly had her beat!

those with the most first place votes from judges get the win in the event of a tie.

Head judge is Debbie Karpenko from Manitoba...
In the case when a judge is on the judging panel and an athlete they work with is competing, the trainer does NOT score the athlete...
there are always 7 judges who score the athlete adn the top and bottom score are thrown out... leaving a possible score out of 5 judges... so Helen would not have judged wither Cat Lopez or Melody Spetko.

Fabiola looked good... I think she brought a great package and an excelent look. I'm sure her time will come! She has a long torso and short legs and needs to work on minimalizing the look of being disproportioned on stage (stretching her poses UP instead of bearing everything down.. especially in her side chest and side tri) she needs to elongate her legs... that's my personal opinion... I think she is very pretty too, and really embodies the look that alot of the american judges are leaning towards...

how many judges were there? as each person had 8 points.
i wish they should show how each judge scored each competitor.

when i compare pics of the two girls, fabiola just looks overal better IMO.
guess thats why i dont judge. lol

thanks for the answers though guys/girls

if you get straight firsts, you would have 5 points. If both had 8, it was likely:

1. 1,1,2,2,2
2. 1,1,1,2,3

whoever gave fabiola 3 points is either blind or biased.

it's the only way for the scores to add up to 8 each, so yeah, 1 of the judges had her 3rd. Also, it would have had to be a judge that had spetko 1st for it to work out this way. I wasn't there, so not sure how bad of a call that would have been, but keep in mind, there are also cancelled votes, so its entirely possible that it wasn't just 1 judge that had her 3rd.

Why did the MC say "Melody thanks her trainer Helen Bouchard"? I also know that Helen has a lot of political pull when it comes to judging and final decisions. I'm not trying to argue with anyone, just stating the facts and knowledge that I have acquired in this situation.....

P22 actually had the best glutes out of everyone at the show. Grossly striated beyond belief and fully developed. Sounds a bit queer I know lol. Not being fruity, but the guy has Mr.O level glutes. Seriously. He did/looked VERY good for his first Nationals. He would have looked even better if his color was a tad darker. If he keeps going, in a few years if not sooner he'll crack it and win for sure.

Ironman: I hate to break it to you, but Helen neither participated in the judging of any of the women's classes, nor does she have any 'political pull'........It simply doesn't work that way.

Plus, you will never meet a more honorable, fair person than Helen Bouchard. Period.

This issue will have to be addressed in the future. I don't want to censor people from stating their opinion but also I am looking to protect the reputation of those in the industry from unfounded attacks.
Some sites are run as a "free for all" and I guess in the past I've been guilty of doing that too (as it requires a lot less maintenance). But this is not the vision I have of the end goal for CBB. I am aiming for a neutral place where everyone is welcome to discuss in a friendly atmosphere. Disagreements will happen now and then but mostly get resolved quickly and in a mature fashion. What doesn't, I will step in.
If it's a serious issue and must be addressed, I won't censor it from the board. That is the goal of the site, info and discussion.

obviously some people here dont understand what a DISCUSSION BOARD is.

people post questions and things they have heard and others with inside knowledge respond. hence why the question was asked in the first place. its isnt to degrade a competitor or take away from their win or loss. Its because others are saying it, so why not post and get the correct answer?

its good to see everyone and there dog come to the defense of the people in said questions. hopefully they will stick around and help the board with their knowledge instead of pming members and belittling them about the sport and their opinions.

Looking at the pics again, I am blown away and humbled by the quality of physiques displayed at the Canadian nationals.

It's ridiculous that only 1 pro card goes out to the open mens. There should be 3 cards for the top 3 in the overall posedown in my opinion. With the 202's now, we need to represent.

In the US they get 6-7 cards if you count the nationals, jr nats, usa's and team universe.

3 in the overall would "almost" imply super, heavy, and light-heavy winner automatically get a card. The exception would be sometimes a middleweight would edge out the light-heavy. I don't really agree with that being the case, simply because our population is what 10 times smaller than that of the US? I think 1 is about all we need to be "fair" in that sense.

We do give out 2 each year if you count the overall + master overall. And in the past, there has been a 3rd given often. So if you think about it, 3 is quite a bit of cards for the canadians to be given!

But if you are going to be giving out the additional cards...what about 2nd place finishers to the overall winner? Ex. chris white at this years nationals...How could they decide between him and the others in the overall? I really think if they had given another card, it would have been to him...He was only 2 points away from winning his class, so some judges had him ahead of santana...Had santana not showed up, he'd likely be a pro as we speak.

Yes, would be only 2 hour drive for us. I am quite sure MTL is where it's held. I think that has been confirmed for a while...But I guess no one has made it official anywhere.

Oct 9th falls on a sunday (thanksgiving), so it would be a little different than normal, but Monday is a holiday. Personally I'd love for the dates and location to be those.

Thanks bro!, i weighed in at 169.2lbs and was around 170lbs on stage, no matter how much i ate my weight would drop a lb or so an hour later, my body was just processing everything i ate so fast the night of the show.

I think cause i have such tiny joints and full muscle bellies gives off the illusion that im look bigger then i actually am. It was a great show with awesome competitors, my 1st time competing at nationals in front of a home town crowd and walking away with the victory is something i will never forget!

I would like to thank Ironman, Ironwill, Steve_D, and Santana for their kind words...

Hey Santana has it sunk in yet? lol!

Anyways, Hard at work keeping the physique in check for the NA's.

I hope to finish top 5 if possible.

Plan is to take some time off after that then start getting ready for next year's season. Not sure what competitions I will do next year... It really will depend on how much improvements I am able to obtain.

After taking stock I figure I need to make the same kind of gains I made from 2007 to now. I need to become more limb dominant, I need better upper back and delt thickness, and I need to make my arms a strength (like Ed Nun)...to make it into the pros and be respectable. Thats almost 20 lbs of muscle.... basically around 240 lbs in the same shape I came in.

Here's a few more pics:

Praetorian

You have a fairly balanced physique bro...Id agree more limb dominant and back density, thickness and width. 20lbs is a massive amount of muscle...I think 10lbs would make you look much denser and tough to beat.
You held your own against heavier guys no doubt!
Nice job!

Hey P22, GREAT pics....Who took those? They have a really clear quality to them. Too bad about the heads in the way. I'd love to see any you may have of myself, as quality pics are always hard to come by sometimes. You looked great, and it was a deep class.

I want to thank everyone for all the kind words and support. I really trained hard and had a great year. My off season was very short, as I really rested after last year's Nats, but everything went so well I wound up making improvements anyways. I credit the rest. I only trained 4 days per week all off season and felt like a million bucks.

Congrats to Loutfi for the upset, and the rest of the class for being so good. Some great talent in that class this year.

Just so everyone who is going to Cleveland for the first time knows, the NA will be a lot of fun. I did it last year, and had a great experience. I realize now I looked like shit, LOL, but it was great anyway. At the time, and for a while afterwards I thought it was my best showing, but after all the pics and vids came back, I realized I was SUPER flat and depleted.

My body did some funny stuff because it was only 6 days after the Canadas, and it was just out of control.....By the time I got there I was 10 pounds lighter than Canadas...Just couldn't get the weight back in me.

Anyways, I am extremely happy with how I looked this year. It was my best ever package. I weighed in at my heaviest ever, and was on stage at my heaviest ever, and was the hardest I have ever been, so it was all good from a performance standpoint. Was a bit flat in the AM, but everyone was. Then at night everyone was way fuller it seemed.....or harder. I really went for conditioning, as that is all the judges ever tell me...get ripped. I could have filled up a few pounds more. That's okay...the conditioning is there, so with another couple weeks of diet, it should be like cement.

I want to thank Chris Aceto for his expertise. He was like a training partner this year. We spoke, emailed, or texted every single day for 8 months. He had a vision for what he wanted to do, and has in incredible instinct that can't really be explained. He will be with me in Cleveland, so I am once again in great hands.

Tighter and fuller for NA!!! Wish me luck guys. I beat some big names last year, but I'm going in for the kill this time.

It was great seeing some of you at the show.
Cheers
Ron

Ron: It was my old man who snuck his SLR and tripod in... And no I don't have any pics of you sorry. See you am me never got the opportuinity to go toe to toe out there...and he was naturally just taking pics of me.

Looking at your pics you certainly put on a noticable amount of size in the arms and legs, that I can definitely see without even checking out your old pics, so congrats bro and I'll see you in Cleveland... but I think I am pretty sure I'm gonna try and do heavyweights if I can.

North Americans is going to be an awesome Canadian showing. All the best to you guys heading down there. I'm sure we'll have no problem being recognized as up to par and then some with our american counterparts.

MD had some great coverage. Good shots of everyone.

Here are a few shots I got this saturday with a great photographer, Wayne Forrest who is just starting to focus on fitness and bodybuilding. These were taken before I had my first night out in months.. haha,, condition is hurting now... offseason diet has begun,, Toronto Pro for next June.

Anybody else who I competed with and made friends with wanna send me a pic for my gym too that would be cool. The pics are always good motivation.

Great pic guys. I'm a fan of the photographers work.

I will eventually start a thread for these types of pics to showcase you guys and the photographers that are good with these styles of pics. It can be really useful to competitors around showtime if they want some artistic stuff done when they are at their best and to show off the competitor in a different setting other than a stage shot. Good for self promoting.

Dryvrgirl,, you are too kind :) Wish I could be there to make some noise in the crowd for you this weekend. I'm sure you are going to kill it ;)
Hope someone is going to keep us updated to how the show progress's. I'm sure it will be a good showing for CBB. Get lots of pics!

Jason,, those pics of you are sick bro. Crazy conditioning and a hell of a photographer you are working with. Love the background in the shots too. Did I read that correctly in saying that was your home basement gym!?!?!

Hope these couple weeks in between are going well for you. You're a good guy and a great bodybuilder, and know you will have a great showing at NA's.

Same to you Ron... your time is coming for sure.

holy crap Jason...that's your basement gym? Either the photog has done a great job or you have a pretty sweet set-up!

Yup that's my gym... It's grown to take up too full sized bedrooms in my basement... I knocked a hole inbetween the closets so I could walk through.

I have everything I could possibly need.

Rubberized flooring, wall to wall mirrors.

two flatscreen tv's (one in front of the cardio machine)

5.1 digital stereo with subs in the cardo side and stereo in the free weight side.

Equipment consists of probably over 1000 lbs in free weights, every bar and conventional bar and attatchment, dumbels from 8 lbs to 90's in 5 lbd increments...

I accumulated this over the past 6 years... and all the pieces were miss-matched e.t.c... but then I won the lottery this spring!

I had a water main break right outside my property and the basement filled with over a foot of fresh water.

Everything hollow was a write off, so I got a big huge fat check to buy new equipment

So no everything is brand new and matches.

I have the Hoist PTS Cage, and Hoist V6 fuct trainer, another brand new efx elyptical machine, a tuff stuff leg ext/ seated leg curl machine, 2 benches, a bodysolid seated calf raise, and a bodysolid plate loaded leg press/ hacksquat machine.

Additionally The walls use to be crappy hardboard, but due to the flood that was all ripped out and new drywall put in its place... Paint now is grey which matches the equipment.

I just licensed my personal training business, and I will be using the gym to train people privately....

all in all I got about 100 grand out of the insurance company for the mess the city caused... brand new flooring and basement walls... everything was upgraded from carpet to high quality laminant... or tile... plus when they had the walls open I was able to wire my sound system pre-outs through the walls, and install all the speakers in the ceilings.. so now my basement is pretty sick looking. lol.

Here's a pic of what my gym looked like prior to the flood.

and I will post more pics of what my gym looks like now as I get them..

Thanks...got it. Ouch...looks like some people not happy with how things went with placings. Good debate to stay out of if you weren't there to see for yourself.
