REVIEW OF 2009 MEETING MINUTES:
Proposed by David Leung, approved by David Ford, seconded by Crystol Wood

Debbie Barrable: we decided to add Bikini model and Super heavyweight men’s
bodybuilding to the Provincials show; are we happy with this and will it be kept at
this show? Yes – approved by John Dirks

NEW BUSINESS:
David Leung, re: CBBF voting suspension. CBBF has suspended the Provincial
executive votes
Jimmy Mah wants an unofficial vote to indicate the membership support of our current
executive.
Agreement: once the decision is made at the CBBF AGM in August, the ABBA executive
will likely call a meeting to inform our members of the decision and decide which
direction we will take from there.

Jimmy Mah proposes adding four quarter turns to bodybuilding posing, in order to
give the judges a better look at the physiques. Proposal: changing the morning
show to a 30 second free pose; the athletes then stay on stage and then go through a
quarter turn round and finally a compulsory posing round. The evening show stays
the same. Proposal by Jimmy Mah, seconded by Nathalie Mulder. Vote: unanimous in
favour.

Henry Goldstein proposes (by proxy) adding bodybuilding earlier on in the show, to
give them better meal time prep and to keep the audience there for the bodybuilders.

David Leung proposes to put bikini last in the show order, before the Overall
winners in both morning and night shows. Seconded by Asha Belisle. Vote:
unanimous in favour.

Brandi Burns: people competing in other federations are largely doing so because of
prizes awarded. Are we in the ABBA able to give better prizes? Particularly cash?
David Leung: we are not able to give away cash, as in our Gaming License agreement.
Additionally, we are an amateur association; this would be illegal.

David Ford proposes that we have an advertising group to do quarterly newsletter,
keeping athletes informed of what’s going on around the organization throughout the
year. Advertising team to be made up of David Ford and Asha Belisle. Seconded by
Asha Belisle. Vote: unanimous in favour.

Nathalie Mulder would like to see a qualifying show for Provincial Bikini, due to
the quantity and quality of athletes coming to the Provincials show. Debbie
Barrable: we have seen huge growth in the last year for bikini competitors, and we
don’t want to lose this. We will bring this up at the CBBF AGM. If they make the
change at that level, then we will follow suit.

Terry Miller suggests an elimination round in bikini – not accepted: doesn’t give
novice level competitors much stage time and could be very discouraging.

Asha Belisle suggests bringing a Male Fitness Model competition to one of our annual
shows – not accepted: this is not in line with CBBF, so they’d have nowhere to
progress.

Debbie Barrable suggests bringing Classic Bodybuilding to our shows. There has been
Classic Bodybuilding at the Canadian Natural show, and this year it will be
introduced at the Canadian Nationals, so we should give our athletes the opportunity
to be involved. David Leung: we will evaluate the success of this class at
Nationals at the 2010 show in Saskatoon in August, and will then discuss at the 2011
ABBA AGM.

David Ford recommends that we have a drug-tested show in Alberta: discussing the
possibility of hosting the Canadian Natural show here. We will bring this to the
CBBF AGM in August.

Cindy Jones would like to find out more feedback from National level judges at the
CBBF Canadian Naturals show. Specifically, she would like more clarification on the
scoring on the CBBF Website. We will take this to the CBBF AGM in August.

Denise Knorr would like us to introduce a Light Heavyweight class for women’s
bodybuilding. We need to stay in line with the CBBF, so we will take this to the
CBBF AGM in August.

Meeting closed by David Leung at 12:33 pm.
