Hi,

Does anyone have any information on how to go about this?
For a product that is only sold out of the USA at the moment, for it to be imported into Canada and sold, will it require a "license" through Health Canada first, or any other requirements?

And would the same go if it's either a Pure product such as whey protein, or a formulated product containing different ingredients (all at allowed dosages and allowed in Canada).

And lastly, if a product from the US contained powders from Europe or somewhere, but was reformulated and manufactured into something different in a USA facility, would this product qualify for NAFTA when importing?

Having trouble finding definitive answers to these questions, if someone can help I'd be very grateful. :D

Thanks.

I used to import products from Europa Sports in the US for years, the re-distribute to other business. At first they were coming in very regularly then all the laws changed, ie... french on labels, ingredients, etc... So I would check the regulations list before hand. I also had my own customs broker which always made it easier...

French on the labels?
I checked some bottles I have.. Gaspari Size-on and Dymatize ISO-100 both don't have french on the labels and both were bought locally.

Mind if I pm you about your experience using a custom broker?

Also, when you brought in the Europa supplements, did you have to deal with having them licensed through Health Canada?

Thanks.

Here is one of the issues that Europa told me. I ordered for years from them and they have a few distribution centres and because I was on Vancouver Island all my stuff came through the WEST boarder, which was a hit or a miss... Everything going to the EAST go through NP... When I stopped order the sales rep probably cried. I ordered roughly 100k/month if not more from them...
Yes, by allmeans shoot me a PM...

The French on the labels is a health canada thing and again goes to customs. It is ridiculous. Just last month there was a small market in Vancouver forced to pull things off the shelves becuase of no French. However if there is less than 10% of the population speakiing that particular language no french is needed, got that right from Health Canada. Then it comes down to politics and bs... It was a headache after a while...
