Hello all, My name is Eric. I am 27 and live with my family (mom, 2 sisters, brother in law and niece) in Barrie. I will start with saying, I have never been in shape,...ever. I have never seen my abs, and have always been a bit chunky. I have been working in shops (automotive) for about 7 years, heavy smoker and have had a crap diet, always fast food, ...just pure shite. So last year I made some changes to my life. First, I quit smoking. With that choice came a few extra pounds. Second, I SLOWLY started to phase out junk food and fast food. I am at the point now where the only fast food I will eat would be Subway or a Pita. Third, not really my choice, I got laid off due to that little sudo-recession we had. This led to me getting out of the shop and working for my friends dad...doing demolition/de-construction and general construction work. I now realize that working in a shop makes you soft,....as i work my friggin BALLS off every day ( I sweat like a beast too). The odd part is, after a while, I have come to actually enjoy the labor. I never used to enjoy being physical, but now that I am,....I'm going to ride with it.

Now, the reason I joined the forum is- I was sitting with my buddy, chatting it up when his dad came home. His dad is 50+ and looks like he is maybe early 30's....and he's firggin jacked to boot!!. Just the look of him got to me, I started thinkin. "He has adapted his body to enjoy all that life has to offer"....so, Now, I want to adapt MY body so I can enjoy all life has to offer. I realize this is no easy feat, and that there are no short cuts. But thats ok, I am down with some hard work! My current height is 5'11", and weight is 220lbs (down from 235, which I weighed 6 months ago). Still quite flabby, so the first bit of advice I'm looking for would be how to shred the flub, flub shredding supplements (not diet pills or "easy way out" crap), opinions on multivitamins, etc. I apologize for my horrific grammar in advance, and thank you kindly to anyone who took the time to reply.

Welcome to the board. Congrats on the progress you have already made and the decision to take it further.

You have a lot to learn so you have a lot of reading to do. In the mean time the short version of it is do more exercise and eat less food. When changing your diet make sure to include plenty of lean protein in there. If you don't you will lose muscle and fat.

If you are totally new to working out, once you get on a good plan you will be able to reduce your bodyfat while slowly adding muscle.

If you don't know anything about nutrition start by reading all the articles here: bodyrecomposition.com/nutrition

Then read the ones on fat loss:
bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss

After you are done reading then feel free to ask for advice on the boards.
