So Im riding down a main road right near my house doing about 75 in a 70 on my new CBR 600.

I do a shoulder check, a mirror check, and another shoulder check before I slowly swing into the middle lane, then into the left lane. About 1.5 seconds pass before I hear a LOUD honk come from right behind me as a MOTHER ****ING COCK SUCKER in his SUV doing about 125 at least blows around me in the turning lane right before the intersection.

I saw this asshole before I changed lanes and he was WAY behind me before I started my lane changes.

That scared the living shit out of me and I am honestly lucky to be sitting here typing this message right now.

Ride carefully.

Why I stuck to dirt bikes & never got one for the street. At the mercy of morons in bigger vehicles. Glad you're OK bro - that would scare the shit out of me I know.

I pulled up next to him a couple lights later and almost got off my bike and punched him in the face with my riding gloves on. That would have really ****ed him up badly, probably shattered his whole face as the knuckles are carbon fibre.

I couldnt ****ing believe he started yelling at me like I was the dick. **** me.

A coworker of mine had an suv pull out in front of him one sunny day on the street in front of the office at about 50km. It was a closed casket funeral.

Don't get angry on a bike. Don't get tired on a bike. You need to have your head screwed on straight and be looking for the guy who's gonna kill you pretty much 100% of the time in the city.

If I ever get another bike it will be a highway cruiser and that's where I'll be using it. Someone tried to kill me once a week when I used to ride. I got tired of having to be vigilant all the time.

I ride VERY conservatively as Im new to it and Im using the bike as a way to save HUGE amounts of cash on insurance and gas.

My bike insurance somehow is half my car insurance, and the gas is obviously consumed much slower. I do a lot of commuting all over the GTA and it just makes sense for me to do this.

A mid fifties black guy with a scraggled ass beard. It took every ounce of self control to not get off my bike and actually beat him to death at the intersection.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I bought my son (he's 16) a scooter (sp?) - there's not a day I don't worry about him getting hurt by these crazy drivers. I'm glad you didn't get hurt. Drive safety.

The most ****ed up part is, is that if I had punched this ****er out at the intersection I doubt anyone would have come to my defense as a witness to what he did to me 10 seconds earlier. I pulled over next to a cop a bit later and asked him what I can do about a situation like that and he told me to get his plate number and report it to police, and I could possibly charge him.

The right thing would have been for me to beat the **** out of that MF and have the other 4-5 other drivers at least that saw it happen come to my defense saying he was driving recklessly which would cancel out his charge of assault because I could charge him with numerous driving offenses making him second guess pressing charges.

I honestly hate pretty much everyone (excluding almost everyone on this board). Every time I think that humanity has some shred of decency I just get let down.

dude that really sucks! Glad you're ok.

I want to get a bike but sometimes I can space out when driving so I am pretty sure I'd end up dead. And add to the fact if the bike can go 300km I am pushing it to 300!

^^ youre bet of me ending up dead or in the hospital almost came true lol

Its super scary because I wasnt spacing out at all. I am in super pay attention mode on the bike and I just happened to guage his speed incorrectly when I attempted the lane change to get in front of him.

Bottom line is he should not have been doing 125 in a 70. Please be careful on the road when you are driving and keep an eye out for bikes. There is no reason why anyone needs to do more than 20km/h over the speed limit. If you're running late, youre running late. Relax.

I agree.

I have a need for speed but after breaking my neck in an accident due to speeding I've learned to slow it down a bit.

My friends who weren't when it happened all make fun of me for going slow sometimes (although I still have my speed moments) but my parting line to them is "you break your neck, almost die and almost paralyzed for life due to speeding and we'll see how fast you go"

Def the most life altering moment I've ever had and I've had a few lol

Glad you're ok Bro. I used to drive a 750 Interceptor years back and had a few close ones myself.

Now, what are you talking about in your above quote Bro? Your assault charge will be canceled out by the traffic act charges you are going to lay? I think you're little confused, and I'll clarify it for you so you don't act on this type of misconception in the future.

Assault is a crime under the criminal code which is exclusive federal jurisdiction. If police believe they have enough evidence to get a successful conviction they will "lay an information". The crown will then decide whether there really is enough evidence to proceed with the charge. Criminal charges aren't canceled out by highway traffic act matters. Generally the police are the only ones that lay an information in the criminal law, but on occasion when they refuse to, an individual can apply to a JP to proceed with a prosecution. Doesn't happen often though.

Highway Traffic Act matters are exclusive provincial jurisdiction and only the police can issue a ticket or other sanction under this legislation. A bunch of private citizens can't get together and say they saw some guy driving recklessly and expect legal action without a police officer seeing such reckless driving. So, you as an individual cannot 'lay a charge' under the highway traffic act, and charges certainly don't cancel each other out.

If you had hit the guy and were subsequently charged that day you would have spent the weekend in jail and then gone before a judge on Monday. If it's your first offence and it was a minor assault you would then be released on your own recog or a $500 bond or bail. You would then need to spend large amounts on a defence and even if acquitted the charge remains on your CPIC for years until they do a purge. If you're convicted you'll spend a year on probation for a minor assault or 6 months to 1 year in provincial jail for an aggravated assault.

Now that you know the real consequences you can make an informed decision about how you'll respond the next time this happens, which it will unfortunately.

Almost everybody I know who has or "had" a bike got hurt at some point.
SOme were fine for years and years, but one day it hit them and its never pretty being on a bike. I have lost two friends in Europe due to bikes.
Honestly, if I were to buy a bike, i would accept that fact that one days something is bound to happen.
Doesn't take much... bad driver, lack of attention for a second...

It fires me up just hearing about these pricks, many yrs i have had to put up with pricks in their trucks mostly trying to kill me......I need counselling....lol.

Thanks for tha dude, I get what you're saying, but Im vividly aware of how law works, I also study it.

I didnt mean "cancel out" in a literal sense, but the cop I talked to right after said if I had taken down his plate number and they talked to him afterward (during their investigation) and they didnt like what he had to say I could have pressed charges against him 100%.

This allows me to also drop the charges against him in return for him dropping charges against me for the savage beating I would have layed on him. At the speeds he was going on that road, its no longer a provincial offense. 50km/h+ over the speed limit is a criminal charge called "stunt driving". Not to mention the other criminal charge of reckless driving.

In a perfect world I should have been able to fill his ****ing face

I learned my lesson

Well, there's this little thing called evidence that needs to be produced in order to lay a charge and get a conviction. Not the word of some guy that just beat the **** out of the accused. The Crown would laugh first, then tear a strip out of the cop.

This is magical thinking. You have no idea how fast he was going. Where's your evidence? Sorry Bro, but you'll need to brush up on your law a little. You're way off.

The cop told me that if they interviewed him and he said anything that incriminated himself in any way about the situation I would have grounds to press charges. This is coming from a cop who works in the traffic division.
