the board seems to slow down in the summer months...... lots of people on vacation, lots of things to do outside.....

The whole net slows down in the summer. People go out much more, as said, vacation and college/university students aren't online as much since school is out.

Posting has gone down since then, traffic has gone up.
I guess a lot of the stuff posted already has covered a lot of bases so people read mostly.

If the trend continues in the fall, I'll try to figure out something to stimulate posting.

Yup, I think the changes made to the site are the main reasons for which posting has slowed down. Also threads like g20 that get banned creates an environment that some of us choose to post less in. Food for thought... Ban the ban stick!

CBB is not like MN. Different approach was in mind for this site. MN was what it was for the people that were on it. Very close group and good people overall. Toward the end a group came in that changed the atmosphere. It became a fight and drama site.

I guess it was time to grow up and change the ways of doing things for the promoting of bodybuilding and fitness in Canada. If it means this site has to run slower, so be it, I'm willing to live with it. Got sidetracked for bit and the site was going downhill even with a ton of posts a day. The site as is has quality people here and very knowledgeable folk. I provide the skeleton and framework, you guys provide the meat.

And Ritch, for threads being pulled it is due to laws in Canada. You CAN be held accountable for what you post. If the site host is presented with a subpoena for ip's and such, I will have no say in it. Spreading hate towards races is illegal in Canada. Conspiring to traffic drugs is illegal in Canada. Threatening to kill someone, and anything along those lines can bring in legal repercussions. Slander (libel) is something else that can attract attention. Probably LE won't get involved but lawyers might.

Most problem posters are guys using hijacked connections or proxies. The fact is that CBB has attracted a lot of viewership in Canada. Newspapers, magazines, lots of LEO as many train and compete themselves, etc etc. With that it is MY responsibility to keep the site welcome to all and to provide a safe place for everyone to interact. I don't want to be seeing stuff in the news about a member of the site being arrested or charged with something. So I cut out the possibilities of that happening. It's not perfect but it has gotten a lot better imo.
The report post/pm saves my ass and the sites ass as it is understandable that every single post cannot be monitored 100% of the time. Some bad posts will slide through. Once reported though, it becomes the site responsibility to look at that post and judge if it should stay or be removed.
It really comes down to what you are looking for and want to participate in on the net. There are sites with AAS as the main theme, others with political issues, others with porn and so on. If CBB does not offer what it is you want to participate and discuss in (or just read) then maybe you should try finding sites/forums that are more along your interests.
CBB is what it offers. If Canadian bodybuilding is your interest, the athletes, supplements, organizations etc then you are in the right place. If Canadian AAS is your interest, then you are in the wrong place. I allow AAS discussion as it is not illegal. But conspiring to buy or sell is illegal and I do not allow it. UG stuff was removed from the site as that attracts sources more than anything else. And we all saw how dirty sources can turn toward one another. It's not 2005 anymore where not many knew how to anonymize themselves and it was easy to perma ban someone. Now everyone knows how and it's impossible to tell who is who so hard to keep it under control. It was removed for everyone's safety and the manipulating of members and the headaches that came with it.

As ubcpower said, quality over quantity. Less posts but more informative and to the point means more viewership but not as much discussion.

I hope the site has something for everyone. Everyone is welcome here as long as the basic rules are followed.

Great post MP, I think this board is definitely going in the right direction. I am new here, only registered a few months ago and I must say that I am very impressed with the forum.

I have been around the Internet Bodybuilding community since 1999 starting with misc.fitness.weights with Dan Duchaine, Lyle McDonald, Bill Roberts, Pat Arnold posting on newsgroups...

I frequented most of the Canadian boards from 1999 to 2004 but never really posted much on those preferring higher profile American boards. I have to tell you this place is different, I really like it here and it has quickly become one of my favorite boards.

I come here mostly for socializing and keeping up with the Canadian Bodybuilding scene. MP is doing a fine job keeping up with contest results, posting competitor profiles and moderating the board.

What I find interesting is I don't see you posting much of value to the site.

I suggested you start a thread so we could discuss the merit of whether 2 hours of cardio a day makes someone look like a string bean and while you did do that you went out of your way to make the tread topic about me (referencing me in the title).

There are lots of topics which could be discussed here but instead of helping out you instead post about stuff that for the most part doesn't have any relevance to the site theme/topic.

So I say maybe before placing the blame on the direction MP has taken the board you could start making a more relvant contribution?

And no this is not me all high and mighty on myself as I post some dumb/funny stuff as well but I'd suggest 80%-90% of what I post is relevant to the board otherwise I am sure MP would have given me my walking papers a long time ago :D

Whatever Nate. Besides you helping people with keto stuff I don`t see what you bring here. Most the stuff you`re just parroting what Prae said anyway.

Cheers.

This site without me, would be far less interesting and funny. Something you may and evereyone else may just find out for themselves sooner than later.

Then as time goes and people find out what a prick you are most the time they will do the same, and move on elswhere.

I contribute less now because the interesting people aren`t here as much, due to the changes made on this site.

bottom line, 2 hours of cardio will have you looking like shit since you want to talk about it. But your "vision" is blinded by your "bro" feedback. I`ve even heard a guy doing high level npc shows of people asking him why he`s so thin and looks like he has cancer. Was talking to the son of a man doing the fcpaq last weekend and everyone at his work place thought he had cancer. Yup 2 hours of cardio has you lookin fantastik...

Nothing to discuss here, other than anyone who isn`t into the whole competing will not appove of this look. A very small minority will agree with what you`re saying. Yet of course you`re right on this one...

Ya know Nate, you and I have gone through many back and forths and have often asked myself if I consider you a bro. It`s clear now that will never be. You just like to push people`s buttons.

And since there`s less pickings to chose from as many of the interesting people don`t post as much or not at all, it seems "I`m up" for a "Nate the hate calling" more often. But hey don`t worry big guy, soon enough you`ll have this place all to yourself and you can scare off the newbs one at a time for your enjoyment and increases sense of well being.

Suck it.

It has definetly slowed down here and we have lost quite a few of the personalitys that made this place so interesting.... Seems like mostly new guys looking to transform with creatine..lol.. heated debates are what gave this place an edge...getting rid of any posts/threads that may be offensive to someone leave only the dull everyday knowledge stuff... because someone somewhere is offended by everything. I know where lots of those personalitys are though... :)

at one point you and "Nate the Hate" and few other that were here before was just ball busting with smart reply to other member and that was one of the main reason i dont post much cuz if i did i would of been all over your ass with some of your dumb posting but i said to myself why bother doing shit on the board and ruined the nice job MP as been doing for the bodybuilding community. What ever you have to say against Natenator HE atleast as change ALOT from day one, he was actualy telling people off just like when he told off dryvergirl and now he actualy helping her and THAT show you what type of a guy he is.
Funny cuz i remember you saying that your not the type of guy walking around with t-shirt and show off cuz you dont like to attrack people attention it seem's like its not the case on CBB.

on a last note instead of crying about the change done on this board why dont you go with MMA to that "special place were all those interesting people are"

Little bit of Tren in the system or did your wife piss you off?? Either way im glad you dont post more cause you would probably prove to be an a**hole. Why dont you go rub one out or maybe put your effort into weightlifting? Fact is it has slowed down here alot and is not as exciting/interesting as it once was. I understand where MP is taking this place with the banning of UGL talk, but if you delete everything that offends someone, there will be nothing left. Have a lovely day and remember to piss in the toilet, not your breakfast cereal :)
