Has any one tried over the counter products that help shair thinning? My buddy is predisposed to this side effect and he asked me if I knew any supplements/product that might give him a edge on his battle. He is willing to try any type of shampoo or product available. Someone told him to go get bear fat to rub into his scalp!?*gag* If you know of something that helped you, please say, it will be greatly appreciated.

actually science is pretty good at stopping (or slowing down) hair loss, it's when you don't have hairs active for a long time that currently there isn't anything to try and grow them back, so I would advise any guy losing hair (preferably before hair loss starts) to try this regiment. I'm in my mid 30's and i've maintained my hair a lot over the last 5-8 years even though I lost quite a bit of hair in my early 20's

- Johnny is right, first get a script for proscar (which is Finasteride in 5mg tab that you break into 5 pieces)
- alternate shampoos between Nizoral a couple of times a week and the Nioxin System 2 set, these attempt to reduce DHT on your scalp
- and minoxidil, any generic will do but I like http://www.minoxidil.com/ as he has a high concentrated formula

and if all else fails, get the Gillette ;)

are you using the generic nizoral off the shelf? what is the potency of it? have you ever stopped using these shampoos while on the rest of your protocol? noticed any difference?

im not sure if its just the proscar that is working and the other stuff on top is just placebo?

it is the Nizoral at the store, off the shelf yes.

You know, that is a tough question, to try and figure out which product does what. My way of looking at things, Nizoral has been recommend not to be used everyday, as it's quite strong. So I thought, in the day's I don't use why not add another type of shampoo that has had some positive feedback.

Can I say it's not just proscar or even the minox? Honestly I can't, but the shampoo's don't really cost that much, and I don't mind using them. I don't see the downside really, but it's impossible to tell exactly what works, or what percentage is attributed to what protocol

I have used Minoxidil and it works. I have not used any other product or shampoo with it, but with Minoxidil, you have to be patient. It will be a few months before you start seeing results. Initially you will feel extra hair shedding, but in 3 to 4 months new hair will start growing. But you have to make sure that products like Minoxidil are continued for a long period of time to see results. In fact it is a product which you can continue to use for the rest of your life. Just be careful using it and follow the instructions strictly and make sure you only use it on the specific area and not rub it anywhere else, like on the face, neck or other areas of the body.

This was tested in a study to successfully treat alopecia, 44% regrew hair and a few grew almost all of their hair back. I have had great results with it, along with 15% minoxidil and emu oil at night. As well as using nizorol twice a week and taking 1/4 tab proscar.

To create the blend used in the study you need to combine:

20ml grapeseed oil
3ml jojoba oil
3 drops rosemary essential oil
3 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops atlas cedarwood essential oil
2 drops thyme essential oil

( you can order all of these items from new directions aromatics online, I also add a bit of castor oil to it which seems to thicken hair right up )

Good luck

Your hair could be thinning for any number of reasons or combination of reasons, and without a thorough medical examination by a physician, it is impossible to tell which is which with any degree of certainty. Our goal in this article is to address the most common questions that we receive from our readers and to answer those questions in a very non-scientific manner, and perhaps even answer some questions that might be on your mind too. To follow, is a brief discussion on the known causes of hair loss and how it can be treated medically.

In general terms, some of the most common reasons for hair loss or thinning are:

1. Genetics.
2. Illness.
3. Poor Diet.
4. Stress.
5. Medications.
6. Post-partum Alopecia.

2 saw palmetto (more natural pathic otc... try it and let it ride)

3 nizorol shampoo stock up lowers fungus and dht levels in scalp ONLY topical but effective,

4 combing your hair often (everyday, stims hair follices)

5 and since some of these guys are saying finastride? wow k why not GH, haha, that will help. 5 iu a day bro...

Not Over the counter Bro...But I can tell you the Proscar is way cheaper then propecia as you get four doses in one pill as you cut it in 1/4....but any doc will give you a script for it...and it works well....I was blading bad and have a nice head of hair still while my younger brother now has to go the MACH 3 route lol...Trust me the Proscar works better then any OTC and is cheaper as 2 months worth is like 90 bucks if you dont have insurance
