Hi there.
I'm sad... and very dissapointed. And I just feel really shitty about it. During my life I've been always arround horses. And been training them. I've had allot of injuries and been in many dangerous situations. I started to notice last year that I was getting allot of pain in my lower back and shoulders. So decieded to go to a chiropractor. I've been going there 2 a 3 times a week for a year straight. but nothing ever changed. Well I wasnt really sore after for a few days.. I was working in new market as a manager on a horsebarn. and decieded to quiet my job. So i did. I also went to another chiropractor... A couple days ago. I got a new hobby working out, hang in the weights here and there, doing some bodycombat and yoga. He says my spine is twisted to the right. which cause posture problems + joint pains.. My left shoulder does hurt allot its always the left side... He told me to stop horseriding for a long time, Weight lifting and yoga.. because its a torture on my body. It is i always have allot of pain.. but i do enjoy it so much.. :s and i didnt really care about it before i just went on.. :( I do trust this men.. He's the dad of a good friend of my. He wants to do laser treatments and all that.. I just hope it works.. I'm done with the pain :s i just wanna do what i like.. but now i just can't I feel sad :( i just started my new gym membership :S Which i can use still.. because... I NEED TO SWIM!!! he adviced me that he tells me swimming makes my back stronger and is really good for jointpain.. So i am lucky my gym has a pool! but still I am sad..

Get a referral to an Osteopath...

If your family doc wont refer you to a specialist go find a new doctor. As for swimming, its great for low impact training.

this dont make sense. muscles hold you skeleton together. weak muscle = weak posture. Learn to train in a smart way and get a new doc. use you logic

I've learned over the years that doctors with lmited, specific knowledge in this area will instandly say " stop training".
Many times have I been told " don't rain for 8 weeks, don't do squats, don't do benchpress because of XY injury.
Then I'd go to a specialist and he'd say " go train, but avoidc XYZ.. or even training is good unless (...)
Point being.. make sure your doctor is specialized and has a passion for sport as well.. that way he will support if your condition somehow allows.

Maybe try seeing a physiotherapist. They might be able to answer another part of the puzzle as to why your shoulder is always sore.

I agree with what everyone else said. See a real doc, a physiotherapist ect, chiropractor's are not the be all end all. He might be actually making you worse if you are seeing him two times a week. Sorry but chiro's friends or not will keep you coming back continuously. I am not saying that they are not a need but any chiro I have been to will manipulate your back for the sake of cracking you, I have only met one chiro who doesn't do this BUT he's also a sport therapist and tells you how to strengthn certain muscles and do what you need to in order to get stronger.
IW broke his back and took time to recover but he still trains hard and smart.
I have been riding and training horses all my life as well and not being able to do the thing you love is very hard but should give you all that more incentive to do whats right and what needs to be done.
Good luck!!

Reminds me of members of my family who are often battered and broken from riding their stupid horses. My Mom sets off the metal detector in the airport from the metal in her leg, which has been broken three times from riding her stupid thoroughbred. Stupid horses. :greet

A guy comes by with another horse and the horse was pretty hot.. but he didnt even wait he just didnt care.. so that horse try to buck at my horse but instead he kicked my knee I had to go to therapy for 2 years. I broke my leg in 3 pieces but i still enjoy it hahahaha :P

Time to toughen up if you want to hang in this world!!! :^)
Sounds like you need some riding lessons, the trick is to stay ON the horse...Owned, rode and trained horses my whole life.......
No excuses, nothing to it, but to do it!!!!

Hey I was out for damn near 5 years with a herniated disk in my neck. I'm back at it now. WHatever you do, go see a real doc. I was in physio for 2 years before my therapist (no ironman not my psychiatrist :D) cut me loose. She says the worse thing to do is stop completely. Get a referal to a physiotherapist from your doc, and make sure that it is a sports therapist you see. I still see the chiro for ART but not an "adjustment" that made things worse. Oh and pics would need to be seen by me too.
The first time I got on a horse was in Eastern Townships where some co-workers got together for the weekend to go horse back riding. Since I was over 260lbs at the time, I didn’t think there was a horse big enough to carry me. Next thing I’m sitting on a ex-race horse..,as soon as I said “Giddyup”, the horse went flying and I couldn’t get the friggin horse to stop. It took a bunch of riders to halt him after 5 miles of pure nightmare. That was the last time I ever sat on a horse.
