Hello,

I am asking a question on my wife's behalf about her diet. She has weight training 3 days a week along with a half hour of cardio in between her gym nights, so all in all she works out 6 days a week.

We are on a very low carb diet since we are both carb sensitive. According to fitday she is consuming 1260 calories, where 140 grams are protein, 35 grams of carbs, and 58 grams of fat. She obviously cannot go lower in calories, and she is not losing anymore fat. She is stuck in a rut and is looking for advice on what she could or should be doing at this point.

Do you think it's a diet change or training change?

She is 36 years old, 135 pounds and 18%bf.

Thanks for the help.

I can't give very advanced advice... But when my diet stalls, I usually bump up the cals for a week or two. When I get back on the diet I start losing again.

Can you break down her diet and show us what she is eating?

Here is her typical day.

Breakfast
2 whole eggs with egg whites, scrambled

Lunch
turkey breast/chicken breast with romaine lettuce and tomatoes/cucumbers

After gym,
Protein shake

Supper
either fish/chicken/turkey or liver with more green veggies of some sort

Before bed
protein shake with 1 tbsp natural peanut butter

in between meals she may snack on a few almonds or walnuts.

We have never weighed our food so we only eat until content and never over eat. Just a standard portion size like recommended.

Can you explain how raising caloric intake for awhile helps to lose weight when lowering it later on?

thank you
