Soccer can be pretty rough Ritch.I lived in a town on the West Island with a whole bunch of Englishmen,a lot of WWII pilots and airframe techs and such who got on with Air Canada right after the war ended and we had endless soccer. We had a provincial championship,72 0r 73.

As for you hitting a baseball, a cage and during a game are completely different. We can at least touch a soccer ball in a game, try even nicking a 95mph fastball or better yet a 104mph one :P

No worries i crank them out all the time, little league cage though.
But hitting the ball is the only skill i'd need to play Baseball?? hmm kinda easy i think. :)
I thought the Baseball crack may get a few replies.. Honestly if i had to rate Soccer it would be right above Baseball which is just below Tennis.
Although i do enjoy drinking suds while playing Baseball.

with me being an englishman i know the game very well as its instilled in us from a very early age.yes it has its rough moments but only when some guy hits someone on the blindside which anyone could do.soccer(football to me) is played by a bunch of bloody fairies that care more about how they look playing the game than actually playing it!!rugby is our real sport played by real men who dont give a crap about there appearance.i know soccer is starting to get popular over there now but trust me you will quickly get bored of it.

I`ll never, ever respect soccer for 2 very solid reasons. The guys always fake injuries like such pussies just to try and get a penalty for his team. The acting is so pathetic when you can clearly tell there was 0 contact. Not even close.
In a man`s game like hockey if you try that shit, they send YOU to the box...
They have a team that wears pink uniforms on the MENS team. You`d never, ever see that in a MANS game like the NFL. Imagine that shit...
**** soccer.
I have been thoroughly enjoying the world cup.

I had to actually force myself to watch a few games to get into it. Would i go see a match at the local level? No. Now if i were oversea's hell yeah i'd be there! the fans are insane!!

If I`m watching soccer, lol? Uh, NO!!! Well maybe I`ll be pulling for the US to win. Here`s why:
The only time I`d root for a US team to win is now, knowing what a shit fit the teams who lose to them will be in. It puts the whole country in tears and anger while I rejoice and do my snoopy dance! Yes, I`m evil like that... It would be like Canada losing to china`s hockey team if they have one!

to all those complaining about this or that sport being gay.
Unless having played a sport, you are not entitled to talk bad about any sport what so ever..
Those "gay" soccer players probably have physical conditioning that would put most sports to shame.
Are they strong like hockey players or rugby players.. of course not. Its not part of the game. Can a hockey player run and sprint around 90 minutes?? probably not..because thats not what defines him.
If you haven't played a game or have at least grown up with it, you simply have no clue what your talking about. Reason being is that you don't get 60% of whats involved and what makes the sport difficult.
Just for the record.. I grew up with soccer and played 12 years.. I boxed and played rugby..
I personaly prefer rugby, hockey and boxing over soccer anytime....but toughness in a sport is not determined by how hard you hit or punch each other only.. its about how hard those athletes train and have to push themselves every single game, day and year.
If you can't acknowledge that... then your probably far from being an athlete yourself.

well i for one have grew up around football (soccer as you put it) and played it for nearly 30 years, ive been a competitive boxer, rugby player, motocross racer and bodybuilder as an amateur and fought mma at pro level and to say these guys are some of the most conditioned athletes is crap.i live round the corner to sunderland afc (premier league team) training ground and have seen these guys train and trust me they dont train anywhere near as hard as you think.there are many sports where there more athletic than soccer by far and soccer players only play for the money.englands LEAST paid player is on no less than £90,000 (about $180,000 cad roughly) A WEEK!!!!! but put them in their white and red national colours when there not being paid and they cant be bothered.its a game of prima donnas and everyone knows it. and just for the record out of all sports ive participated in or been an avid fan of,non takes more time, effort and dedication than mma and bodybuilding imho

impressive.. well, I guess your more than entitled, lol.
well, I guess..Soccer players are some pretty amazing athletes regardles. Reason I am saying this is that there are go knows how many people on this planet playing soocer.. so in order to make it up there, chances are you've trained hard for year and years..
eitherway. The money those guys are making is out of proportion.. its like that in several sports. Soccer being the most popular sport in the world obviously has a strong marketing pull.
We alll know that Bodybuilding is a sport with very litte financial reward/ the same applies to MMA. What those people earn is in no comparison to the time and effrot that they put in.
I personally have more respect for the athletic abilities of a rugby player. The required skills for MMA and other martial arts are superb as well. Nobody realizes how much condiitoning that sport requires until performed by themselver...
Eitherway, could ramble on whatsoever.. but who cares in the end, lol

So by your "logic" nate just because I never got in the ring with a ufc pro or played a football game I guess I can`t judge those sports as being tough because I never played them.
So like I said, just stay out of this one, you`re just gonna look stupid.

You can judge all you want.. thats your right. But you shouldn't talk bad about about a sport if you haven't competed or at least attemted it yourself.
I don't like baseball and they look like a bunch of lazy fat ****s to me .. can't stand watching it.
Having that said, I will never talk bad about it because I have no clue how much training and skills are required to hit a ball or throw a ball at that speed. In addition to that .. every sport has rules, strategies and specific issues that you don't comprehend unless competed yourself.
Let alone the mental aspect that is involved in making it to the top... how much toughness do you think is required if you want to make it to the top??
Probably significantly more than simply getting your ass to the gym five times a night ( not referring to competing here).
I am not sure that you understand soccer.. so I don't blame you. You grew up in a country where soccer is quite insignificant.. but thats not the point.
Be carefull what you judge and who you judge if you have limited background.
We could probably get into a long debate here and one key factor is .. what do you define as toughness?? Puching each other in the face? Pushing yourself to the physical limits Having to perform under the pressure of millions of people watching.. these are factors that most people don;t consider. factors that apply to every sport and probably deserve some sort of recognition.

Why don't they use video replay? Billions and billions of dollars in this game and they expect one guy with a couple assistants to see everything on a huge field. It makes no sense. Soccer isn't gay, but high level professional soccer...is pretty gay. Shirt tugging, diving...rolling around on the ground for stuff an 8 yr old would walk off...The calls that the refs make and the stuff that they don't call...there isn't any consistency. I love watching soccer, but the players ruin it with all the bullshit.
