I don't know what to say about it, there's far too many levels to analyze it through. It does however demonstrate where our society is headed in regard to values and ideals. We now have our children embracing violence as a desirable and worthy trait.

Any idea where this happened?

I am in Education and generally in Canada/USA, the approval would have needed to come from the administrator of the school. In which case I am shocked

i would argue not even close. Firstly, gr 1-5 students wouldnt even do Romeo and Juliet, it is not in their curriculum and the reading level/story line is way over their heads. Secondly, it is themed around love, scarface is themed around power, drugs, money and violence.

Oh no you didnt....!!!:shock:p

Personally, i think lil girls that age have not any need to know what "coke" is other than the red can with white writing......I find this sad....They grow up fast enough as it is....No need to introduce them to The ugly, sinister part of the world we live in any sooner than they need to...
Butterflies and daisies for the win!!!
Tonka trucks and train sets rule...

You are shocked by this? Our own leaders of this country teach us that lying and cheating will get you to the top so why is this so surprising?

Just like Christmass plays?? :D

Hey don't get me wrong there's not a chance in hell my daughter would have played a part in that play. But than there's not a chance in hell the school she went to would ever have even considered such a play.

Personally i'm really looking forward to 5 and 6 year olds playing the part of a roid rageing juice monkey.

What about having this teacher (Mr. G) as your child's drama teacher:

Not much shocks me Nate. That said, I do believe that the values and ideals we instill in our children have a direct effect on our society's future. There has been a slow but steady societal/public fondling of the darkside of human nature without the capacity to take responsibility for this collective caressing of the malevolent. We teach our children to wander into the dark abyss, then are shocked when things go wrong. What a monster he/she turned out to be.

Children aren't born with a moral compass. They develop it through that which is taught to them by their parents, community, and society. Somehow I don't think glamorizing villains nurtures the type of moral compass we as a society hope to instill. I'm not sure why so many are unable to discern such an obvious contradiction. This is essentially what I was getting at in my first post, but didn't have time to write. :)
