What a bs article. Dont these nutrition specialist know that different sources of proteins are absorb at different rates vs.times(whey protein=quickly absorbed, beef=20hours+!) Plus the body works according to the type of level of activity and such.( You are highly active=you will burn MANY calories. You are a lazy loser/couch potatoe=you will burn LESS calories) Plus, the human body require amino acids(protein) for metabolic and physiological reactions at different times during the 24 hour frame. IMO

You will have too alter the amount of protein intake ACCORDING to your goals. (If you are a skinnny "nutrion expert" then you better be eating lentils(bs), if you are a bodybuilder, then hit the protein hard).

I don't see anything wrong with that article. All it says is that human beings in general don't need ridulous amounts of protein. Which is true for most. The article even says "having more won't hurt most people".

I just don't know how that article relates to anyone on this board, since most people reading here probably aren't the average joe.

"We don't absorb much more than 20 grams of protein per meal," ..... Looks like i wasted a lot of hard earned money on shakes :ji

This may be a valid statement for whey protein. I can't think of anything else that would digest fast enough. Whey goes through the system so fast I can imagine a lot of waste with higher volumes. Other sources are going to digest much more slowly so this couldn't be as relevant.

If there was a study that said 20 grams of whey isolate every 3 hours is the most effect on protein synthesis in an average weight, male of avg age, on an avg day I wouldn't be terribly shocked.

I find that a higher than necessary (for muscle) protein diet leaves ME more satiated and results in lower body fat composition.

too much protein is healthier than too many carbs or fat. your body can make glucose from protein, but it doesnt work the other way around. excess protein can be used as cell energy.

Victor85.........your comment about beef taking 20+ hours to digest. Can you point me in a direction where I might read about that?

Anyone ever notice that all the advocates of "too much protein" are pencilnecks while those that are not are big and strong? Enough said. The proof is in the pudding as they say.
