I wrote a few months back that I took a job in northern manitoba at a nickel mine. The food is good, great actually, but very very fat. Mostly deep fried and everything contains sugar. I've been gone for two 6 week stints and put on about 15 pounds of FAT. It sucks badly. There is no gym and the walls are only 2 inches thick so my TRX system is busting up the wall so it's not an option anymore.

The money is stupid high, can't complain there but my body is falling apart. Hoping the strike back home ends soon before I become a beach ball with fingers!

rant over.

On a note, what I've been doing is when I'm home, I follow the palumbo diet but of course it only lasts 2 weeks. Is this pointless for 2 weeks at a time? Do you guys think just eating very clean is my only option and working out daily while home?

Considering it takes most people 2 weeks to not feel like shit on the Palumbo diet, I wouldn`t do it if I were you for 2 weeks... So yeah, eating clean is your only option. But surely you can have 3 clean shakes. Do you have a fridge and microwave at your disposal, maybe a hot plate to cook stuff? Make some meal and store them...

The mine we're at is at Bucko Lake, near Wabowden. We have no fridge or hotplate to cook or store anything. I do drink a couple of litres of water a day and bring protein with me for my snacks with veggies.

Breakfast is eggs with a slice of fried ham.

lunch is assorted sandwiches, I choose brown bread with tuna/salmon

supper is usually a pasta (not whole wheat) with a deep fried meat like breaded pork cutlets, fried sausages or something to that effect.

insane fat content, and I seem to be carb sensitive, i can live on virtually no carbs at all so a bowl of pasta bloats me to no end, yet if I don't eat any I'm left with a deep fried meat of some sort. Not sure which is the lesser of two evils.

I shouldn't complain really, the money is really good, accomodations are OK and work conditions are OK. It's a mine, how good do they get? My only complaint is no gym and fat food. I suppose I may be the only guy there who's worried about food!

thanks for the help,
