Hey,

I need to diet... again. **** me for letting it slide again,

I am aiming for around 12 percent which should take me 6 weeks...

I have dieted twice before. Generally on a low carb diet.. mainly reduced carb intake at first ( oatmeal only) , increased cardio and progressed from there.
Results were ok, muscle loss was a factor but I got what I needed.
Problem was always that I felt really stupid..

Ok, this time.. well, I am working at a mentally very demanding job and have studying to do on the side.. talking about heavy stuff here and looonngg hours. I want to use the keto diet ... only concern is that it would impact my ability to concentrate ... in a severe way.

Question... How was your ability to focus and think clear impacted on Keto, especially when compared to other diets??
How long did it take to feel normal in regards to mental abilities??

Thanks everyone for their feedback.

A keto diet will IMPROVE your ability to concentrate and focus dramatically unlike a low carb approach which will reduce it. Remember the brain is running on predominantly ketone bodies and there is an abundant supply from bodyfat. On a low carb approach the brain is running on glucose and their is a very limited supply....ie LOW carb!!

Good post Prae. Ive never done a real keto diet and maybe for one of my future shows i could give it a shot. But when i consume less than 100g carbs for a more than a few weeks mentally i find im a little off. Just not as sharp, more tired, less energy/strength, and hard to focus. Im not carb sensitive but offseason i eat a tonne of carbs so when i diet i just feel not as sharp mentally id say.

Thats because even though you are less then 100g of carbs you are still not in ketosis...hence the lack of clarity, focus, energy, etc

I have started the diet. Been almost 48 hours, so far so good. Starting to feel sluggish, woke up with a massive headache and all that junk food that I normally dont even care for looks damm good, lol.

Having that said, so far things are better than I would have expected.

I will update this thread at some point and report on my focus and mental wealth.
