Been doing great in the gym, making awesome gains, chest cold for the last couple of weeks, but kept on pounding through work and gym etc....Now i went to doc, Oxygen levels are low, not bad yet, and i have friggin Pneumonia....This blows..I had 3 weeks left of bulking, then going to cut......
Ah well, should be better in a few days, but antibiotics for 2 weeks minimum....That will bugger up my flora and good bacteria in my gut, and set me back probably moreso than the illness itself.....
Does anyone have home remedies??
Anyone else ever have this, how long to recover and push hard again???
I walk up one flight of stairs and im breathless, definitely not normal, even when real heavy im never breathless.....
POOP!!!:(

Same thing happened to me near the end of my mass gaining cycle...didnt get pneumonia but had bronchitis. Usually this happening means you need a break...a weakened immune system will usually point to overtraining and a break would be the best thing for you. Take a week off while on antibiotics, rest, eat , sleep...double up on probiotics during the antibiotic cycle and after as well. That means morning and evening doses (twice daily) and find a good strong probiotic...dont skimp. Usually two caps twice daily..back off the dosage if you experience any gas or stomach discomfort...maintenance is just one morning dose.
I always plan a vacation the week prior to cutting...Mexico does alot to relieve stress and get things back in order ready to go.

Pneumonia is a pretty serious thing, lot of people still die from it if they wait too long for treatment.

Get some rest, be well man. Lots of time for training when your better.

Mrs M had the same type of problem she ignored it for a couple of weeks before seeing a doc and getting on some antibiotics. It made her recovery that much longer and more difficult.

Rest up and get well soon.

^Glad you went to doc.. when I was 20, went to Daytona Beach spring break, got just hammered for a week straight.. when got home started to have chest cough... was like blah I'll be ok... few days later I'm in an ambulance and spent 6 days in the hospital with fluid all the way up my lungs.. wasn't fun..

It was pretty serious, so took me about 3-4 weeks to recover.... but even with all that, the week in Daytona was well worth it :)

Hell ya you can die from that shit! Had a buddy who had a friend come down from fort st.john for Christmass a couple years ago. On the way here he got sick, didn't go to the doc., By the time he did go see a Doctor it was too late, a few days later he's dead.

Merry fing Christmass..

My wifes really prone to getting it, when she gets sick and starts to feel it work towards her lungs she go's and see's a doctor right away.

I agree with Rob, I had it a few month ago and lost almost 50lbs. Couldn't even walk up the stairs. It took me three month to completely recover and another three month to regain my strength back. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Scares me, I walked around with the worst caugh when I was travelling. Tht was definitely something real bad..

The pharmacists gave me cortison shots..they were quite amazed by my injection skills, lol.

real crappy part is that once you get it, you are prone to getting it again and usuallly it does cause scaring of the lungs....
To cap it all off, it can be bacterial or viral in nature...meaning if you aren't diagnosed correctly, you could be getting antibiotics for nothing

Agreed! I was in the Hospital for 3 months when I was younger. I sat in the bed with a plastic sheet over my head the whole time (I think it was for pumping oxygen). Not fun, my lungs felt like shit and the coughing shit up was epic. DEFINITLY REST!!

ive gone through it with a broken nose and it compounded the issue of breathing and congestion. Did anyone have to practice one of those lung strength toys that you blow and the ball rises? (leaving myself open for a joke on this one :) )

Take care of yourself IW..Pneumonia can linger on and come back easily if not really taken care of. Get well bro.
