I'd like my father to investigate this with his doctor and he is interested in doig so. What does he need to know so as to NOT get brushed aside by his doctor.

1. When he gets bloodwork. What qualifies as low testosterone?

2. If he's low normal can he still get HRT so as to be high normal and what is high normal?

3. What would be the highest prescribed dosage that would achieve high normal levels?

4. What types are there these days and whats the best? Is HG injectable enanthate still availalbe?

5. What are the possible side effects for a man this age? I'd like to help extend his life and not shorten it. lol

6. Are there any other questions I should be asking? lol

7. GH should he be looking into this as well?

8. What would be the cost of GH? He's a university professor but even with the best medical plan I'm suspicious that it might be pricey. lol

Thanks for any and all help.

im interested to see the feedback on this thread. I often wonder when MD's will draw the line at prescribing HRT when men reach a certain age (ie. +60). I would love to know these answers for my father.

1. When he gets bloodwork. What qualifies as low testosterone?

This seems to be more subjective than hard numbers. My HRT doc uses a questionnaire as well as blood tests to make a determination. He will need to see a doc that is willing to prescribe. A lot of docs are old school and will just tell him what he is experiencing is a natural part of aging and he will need to learn to live with it. Go here for a list of docs.... http://www.andropause.ca/en/resources/

2. If he's low normal can he still get HRT so as to be high normal and what is high normal?

See above

3. What would be the highest prescribed dosage that would achieve high normal levels?

200mg\wk is usually a sufficient dose. He may want to run it 100mg\wk instead. I find that weekly injections keep my moods, ect. more stable.

4. What types are there these days and whats the best? Is HG injectable enanthate still availalbe?

Yes. I use delatestryl

5. What are the possible side effects for a man this age? I'd like to help extend his life and not shorten it. lol

None that are negetive as long as it is taken as prescribed. The positive side effect is a better quality of life and more than likely a longer life.I am not sure if random wood is considered negative or positive. :)

6. Are there any other questions I should be asking? lol

Make sure he gets injections and not the creams or gels. Injections are far cheaper and more effective. Tell the doc that going to a clinic to get injections is not an issue. If you have a health professional in the family let them know. My doc had one of his nurses teach my wife how to do the injections.

7. GH should he be looking into this as well?

Sure. But, I have no experience with this.

8. What would be the cost of GH? He's a university professor but even with the best medical plan I'm suspicious that it might be pricey. lol

See above.

Thanks for any and all help.

See the above in red. Good luck.

Good Lord, man, 60+ years is exactly when testosterone naturally becomes so depleted that HRT is almost a necessity for a man.

Exogenous GH is great for older men, but if you can't afford it, use peptides to boost natural GH.

Thanks Randy for your time, very thorough and I think that more than gives him enough to go on now. I'll be sharing this post with him.
