They are talking about passing legislation to scrap the penny. Should Canada scrap the penny?

So instead of something being 1.01 it will be 1.05. Or do you think it would be rounded down? I am afraid of that and cannot see a benefit to it unless your on the opposite end.
Penny pincher.

Penny pincher.

It'll be rounded to the nearest 5 cent up or down. They'll save a ton on making more pennies. SCRAP THE PENNY. I've been wanting this for 10 years now.

^^^ You mean worthless lol

I say get rid of them. I'm not a big fan of change and actually can't wait for the day that we don't have any at all. Let's just start with the pennies for now though :)

Somebody is going to get rich with no penny. What I have learned is that when it comes to money issues somebody always is getting rich.

Well I can only assume that it is similar in Canada and the states but "According to the US Mint, the costs of producing and shipping one-cent (penny) and 5-cent (nickel) coins during fiscal year 2007 are $0.0167 per penny and $0.0953 per nickel."
So that right there would make it a good idea to stop making pennies, and apparently nickels.

Ok, let's make everything to the closest dollar. 0.99 cents, forget it, it's $1.00!

Seems like most of the population wants the penny gone. Only the lower income earner's seem to want it to stay.
