Why is HRT not standard procedure for all males over 40? Seriously...?

It should be as this is how I looked in my 20's and into my 30's. Believe it or not the picture from last year, i was training and my diet was the pretty much to same as the year after but with nearly no test in your body its difficult to make any progress. You try and bulk you get fat, try to cut you loss muscle. It is very discouraging. The only regret I have was not getting on it sooner. All I can say is, if your doctor wont do it, do it for yourself.

Awesome results! May I ask what form of HRT you were using at what dosage? My fathers 60 and I started training with him 3 weeks ago and he's dieting down with me as well. He's dropped 25 pounds in 3 weeks at a starting point of 299lbs. I'd like to get him down to 199 (100lb goal) in one year. Any suggestions or recomendations woud be appreciated as far as HRT goes. I might start a new thread so as to not hijack yours with this question by accident. I apologize if that takes place a bit. I just wanted to get some info from yourself first since you obviously have experience with this. I'd like to extend his life.

The doctor started me at 200mg every month and then bumped it up to every 3 weeks. From what I have read and heard from others that is low. Most are at 200 EOW. I am currently taking 250 EOW but I also ran some cycles at 500/week which is a good safe level.

Does HRT stand for hormone replacement therapy? Isn't this used for menopausal symptoms? Could someone explain? Thanks in advance.

Thats is what HRT stands for, In women they go through menopause and there estrogen production basically shuts down. For men our hormone production slows down as we age so now the doctors prescribe testosterone to supplement what are bodies are not producing. Not all doctors agree with this approach but ask anyone who is on it, it greatly improves quality of life if you are an active person.

Yes, HRT in males is for Andropause symptoms and has been forgotten and overlooked for so long now. Finally, even on the Dr.Oz show its being looked into. Doctors need to be updating their practices and looking into andropause problems males suffer from as they age. Andropause can be and IS very dangerous. As your natural testosterone levels go dangerously low, your harmful "BAD" You have done a great job and have done yourself a great justice! Good on yah and keep it up!

Side note on this, I just see a doc at the drop in clinic since it is very difficult to fine a family doctor. Too me its all the same, but I had the get my script refilled.....well I end up seeing this 20something female doctor. I explain what it is I am taking and she starts looking it up on her iphone.....I guess there is an app for that. Then I get the old lecture about the effects of steroids and the evil things that it can do to me. I explain that it is a low dose that male hrt is an effective treatment. Back to the iphone and starts reading off the effects. Usually I am a very respectful person when it come to doctors but I asked "is there any drug have you prescribed that does not have side effects or chances of" and its when I said that this was something I could get outside the medical system very easily that she gave me the script, of coarse she had to go to her office and look it up and even then the pharmacist shook her head at it.

If you don't know something don't come across as if you do. Im sure she had my best interest in mind but I have seen 3 different doctors there and they all seem to be in favor of it.

heh yeah it seems the younger so called 'doctors' these days feel like they have something to prove to everyone so they pretend like they know everything about anything that has to do with the profession even though they dont simply because they think they're supposed to, anyways congrats on the gains and results good luck hope you get all the goals you are after in the future!
