Do you think there will ever be a world`s strongest woman`s contest like they have with the men? It would be a schmoe`s heaven!

Generally speaking, nobody even knows about the WSM competitions.

WSM is on television. Mr. Olympia barely makes the internet. Of course nine-ball and darts trumps WSM so that's not saying much.

It sure is funny the things that do and don't make it with the general public.

Nate , with an over weight population well over 50% is it any surprice hotdog ( or any food ) eating comps make it on tv . Also , some of those guys are National Hero's ... Haha !

I was just watching log cutting comps on TSN the other day. I find it interesting , but not as interesting as a powerlifting comp and I've never scene that on tv .

So globaly, you`d say strongman is more popular than bodybuilding. I`m talking about people watching the shows.

Lets see....

Strongman is on TV. Bodybuilding is not.

I'd say strongman is more popular?

That makes perfect sense, and I hate to say this kinda points out the potential for woman`s bodybuilding as a whole.

Theres the negative stigma of bodybuilding and the steroid connection. The general public are amazed at the strength feats and dont really have the drug question on their mind, which does give it mass appeal. Plus, its a freak show watching men deadlift cars or yoke 1000 lbs for distance.

In addition to that.. the general public considers todays modern body builiders to be ugly. Not saying they dont like built, muscular freaks.. but the general bodybuilder does not look that appealing on competition day.. UNLESS you have are somewhat into this and a bodybuilder, wanna be body builder or something similar.

if you cut out all the people that dont give a shit about bodybuilding..you only have a small fraction left, whereas as victor mentioned.. freakish strenght is and always has been appealing or amazing to most of the general public

I know it's kinda unrelated... but there is a competition circuit called "tri fit" for women, and it is an obstical course, a bench press contest, agility and speed tests, a fitness routine AND a bikini /physique round all combined into one weekend event.
I wouldn't call it a worlds strongest woman competition, but it does provide another venue for women to not just show thier physiques for all the hard work they have done, but to show practical application and strength.
there is another growp that does something kinda similar in Canada... I forget what its called, but they do tire flips and stuff... Ill google it up later on

We have StrongWomen in the US. As of last year alot MORE women have come out to play and throw stuff around. There are so much more now its awesome and some pretty strong. I still have alot of work to do to get to some heavy lifts but I do it to keep active and its just so much fun and less politicial lol... :D

Alot of good crews to train with all over the map too and everyone is always willing to help and invite you over to train.. it Rocks!

My vote for the world's strongest woman goes to Aneta Florczyk. Damn, check out her lifts and such on the right!:
