If your not already taking a Resveratrol supplement..maybe you should? At least until the pharmaceutical form is released in about 5 years.

Interesting. How much does something like this go for?

Hmmmm very cool. I'm sure if it really works we won't hear much about it. The pharmaceutical companies would lose tons of money if people didn't get cancer and such.

I know that AI PCS has "Trans-Resveratrol" in it. Would that be the same stuff?

The supp is fairly cheap, but you need to take a lot to have an "anti-aging" effect. 500mg a day or more (some take 2000mg a day) is believed to be an effective dose. I currently take 500 mg/day but may bump it up to 750mg. You also need to take a high quality resveratrol supp since some brands actual active ingredient (trans-resveratrol) is much less than label claim...I personally take this

http://www.lef.org/newshop/items/item00867.html

but AOR also makes a good quality form and there are a select few other brands that I would trust.

They are currently working on a resveratrol drug that'll be out in about 5 years. They're going to maket it as an anti-diabetic drug. Resveratrol helps prevevent diabetes and protects against diabetic health complications....among many other things....it will be apparently a 1000 times stronger than resveratrol.

I've heard of it before, does anyone take this?

Resveratrol has a whole lot of good things going for it, but the one we're most interested in has to do with estrogen. You see, resveratrol acts as a potent estrogen antagonist (while also acting as an agonist in some tissues, similar to the drugs clomiphene and tamoxifen).

In higher concentrations, it acts as an aromatase inhibitor. That means that it stops the body from whittling away at your Testosterone.

This is cool because if a substance stops Testosterone from being converted to estrogen or estradiol, it not only prevents the nasty effects of estrogen (loss of muscle and strength and accrual of body fat), but it increases your level of Testosterone, leading to additional strength and muscle!

What's equally important is that it won't cause your Testicles to go on vacation, i.e. shrink. The testicles don't get a signal from the pituitary to shut down because estrogen has been curtailed!

There's a lot of good data in animal models to back this up. Studies have demonstrated a resveratrol-fueled increase in Luteinizing Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone (the pituitary hormones that signal the testicles to start producing Testosterone) that's 2.7 times greater than placebo.

Additionally, resveratrol caused a 76% increase in sperm count, all of this without any adverse effects. (1)

The aromatase inhibition is thought to occur through two mechanisms: reducing the expression of aromatase, as well as binding to the enzyme and preventing it from doing its dirty work.

And, unlike conventional aromatase inhibitors, resveratrol doesn't cause a decline in endothelial (blood vessel) function. In fact, it seems to improve it! (2-12)

And remember those nasty xenoestrogens I mentioned earlier? Resveratrol seems to occupy the receptor sites, or biological "parking lots," so that these xenoestrogens can't "park" in their spots. That's good.

• Acts as both an estrogen antagonist and an aromatase inhibitor.

• Increases Testosterone without causing testicular shutdown

• Promotes blood vessel health and cardiovascular health in general

• Exhibits anti-cancer effects, particularly anti prostate-cancer effects

• Exhibits anti-aging effects

• Promotes fat loss

• Has anti-inflammatory properties

• Acts as an anti-oxidant

• Exhibits anti-arthritic effects

• Shows anti-fungal and anti-viral effects

• Acts as a liver protectant

It's too bad BAC doesn't still ship to Canada. Don't know exactly about the quality of their product(s) but would be interested to try it anyways.

I didn't realize it was a supp that was out already.......for those that have tried it, any difference in feeling?

This is very subjective of course, so it could a be a placebo effect. But I could swear my energy levels have improved and I KNOW my endurance is better. But that could be attributed to other factors. I've had many people tell me I look ten years younger.....but that could be the lost fat and the "anti-aging" dose of GH and test I've been using......so in short I'm not 100% sure. But the clinical data for this stuff is very strong so I'll continue taking it regardless.

I've been taking it off and on [mostly on] for about a year at 1g/d. It's hard to pin down the direct effects since it is so subtle [ie not a drug]. The only thing I can say with absolute certainty is that it will help your immune system recover from colds and flu. Even though everyone in my house has been sick a few times over the last year, I haven't been sick once... the one time that I did feel some symptoms coming on I realized I hadn't been taking my resveratrol so I started it up again and within 1 or 2 days was 100% again while the rest of my family was sick for over a week. My little one brings home some strange viruses and it's normal for me to get hit for a week or 2 at least 2x/y

lots of good info here http://www.imminst.org/forum/Supplements-f6.html
