I've been beating my legs (and every thing else) with heavy weights and low reps lately so as a break I did 21 set of 5 with some bloody light weights this morning.

Well after my 3 hour nap I feel pretty good.

I know light weight won't make me strong but the volume certainly feels good.

I can see where the occasional volume workout would be good for recovery.

Muscles don't feel weight just intensity. your legs are huge! I see no problem blasting them with high ass reps as long as you can't get up after aha

Great in theory until your continually ignore the warning signs from heavy training and end up a broken down body that requires months and months of rehab to rebuild and heal.

It may have been but there are plenty who ignore the warning signs in favour of their ego only to get ****ed.

I don't ignore the warnings but when in prep I'll turn a semi blind eye to the issues and try backing off the weights for a bit and hope it gets better.

I'm going to try and avoid this whole injury things from heavy ass squats and such and stick with the higher reps for now for legs, they seem to respond very well to high reps/ high intensity. So many friggen fibres in your legs you can't hit them all with heavy low exercises

^^^ Don`t forget higher reps does not mean high intensity. The higher the reps the further you are from your 1 rep max meaning it`s acutally lower intensity...

Didn't Tom Platz have the freakiest legs in history? Wasn't he known for doing insainly high reps?

I think with legs seeing as they're such a large group of muscles, the higher reps to absolute failure will do just the same if not better for adding mass and seperation that lower reps. JUST in my recent opinion lol. Been doing higher reps/ rest pauses/ drops sets to complete failure on my last set of my exercises for legs lately and have seen a BIG difference

not to mention having less strain things like your knees and back. Less injury always has a spot in my book lol

Agree.

My last workout was based on light weight walking lunges ( higher rep ) , and they are still sore 2 days later.

I know guys that push/pull the sled to help recover . Great GPP !

IIRC,he once claimed to have squatted for 10 mins with 315 without counting...and doubted they did his legs any good!Who knows.
