For those that know a little about voip. Why hasn't anyone developed a cellphone that uses a wireless connection and voip? Why not blanket a city with wireless internet and use these phones at a fixed rate per month like $50 unlimited? Would be logical in a city no? But then the cell companies would have a huge drop in profits for sure. Maybe they'll get smart and do it before someone else does.

I believe it is because cell phone data speed blows chunks.

I have VOIP through my Sony to my router and then a wireless connection. When I speak there is a complete delay until I'm done speaking, then I hear what I said verbatim, after that the other person answers.
Thats quite a delay.

You work for a cell phone company?

haha ya, I run an Aliant Store (NB's version of a Bell store). Honestly, VOIP at home has really had little to no effect on our market here, I can't see it catching on too much in the cellular market either.
