From the bits and pieces I`ve heard, we have a new generation of crappyness among us. The latest one, Drake who thinks he can rap is just more proof of how you don`t need talent to succeed in the music business. This guy was on degrassi for **** sakes, he comes from a regular stable family, he`s not a gangbanger. What`s he supposed to rap about? What the hell did he go through? Does he have lower back problems from sitting in that wheelchair he used to sit in on the set of Degrassi? Plus the annoying distorted microphone he uses to cover his lack of talent (most of his words don`t even rhyme) is just solid proof how dumb the kids are to listen to this shit. More music for the clueless... Enjoy losers.

I`m telling you he has no talent. He just talks, good rappers have flow, something unique about them... This guy is just some tool that`s being given a big push by the media as he must have the right contacts for this to be taking place. Pathetic.
But the worst is the big time names he has on board with him. What the hell are they thinking? Do they just want their names out as much as possible no matter what? And why can`t, just for once, a rapper make an album without the appearance of 5 other big names? I know why...

Agreed. The real shit is still out there tho. Its just not on the radio so these idiots cant find it. Atmosphere, cunninglynguists, brother ali etc.
R.I.P. Guru.
I agree. Stick to acting on shitty canadian teenie melodrama's.
such a ****ing joke. hip hop died like 10 years ago.
Chingy was the last nail in the coffin.

I`m out of touch now when it comes to hip hop, I`m glad infamous responded here. I looked up Amosphere on Youtube. First song I listened to is Guarantee. Now that`s what it`s about... These guys seem to have something to say. Right now I`m listening to "trying to find a balance". Good shit there infamous. National Disgrace is a sweet track here. Take note Drake, this is what hip hop is about, go back to drawing pics for your mom to put on the fridge...
Anymore recommendations here infamous? You may win me back to hip hop with music like this. Green sent your way bro!

We don't agree all that often Ritch, but this is assuredly one of those times. Nothing frustrates me more than the state of elements of the music industry...

I'm so glad to see there are other sane people in the world. It frustrates me how a kid with no talent whatsoever can be become one of the biggest rap stars in such a period of time. I mean this kid was on Degrassi one day and a World-wide known rapstar the next, I don't know whose dick he's been sucking to get in the rap industry but this guy has no business singing or writing any kind of music. It's all about connections in his case and his record label distributor did an insane job at promoting him. I mean this kid became a superstar in a few month's time. I don't even listen to mainstream rap music made in the last 10 years are so, it's sad to see what most of the music industry has become.

Zombies are real, people! They're the ones that believe what they're being sold. It's why ass nuggets like this become successful.
Another problem is the Candian music industry itself. They promote Canadian 'talent' even if the talent isn't there.

Drake sucks. No lyrical talent and his freestyling was not free at all, reading from his Blackberry! PFFT! Kinda sounds like those drunk guys who start rapping for no reason, when you are at the bar. I am not impressed.:mock

Dead prez is good.... The artists that are in the mainstream now who can rhyme and have the great metaphors are Jay Z and Lil Wayne. T.I. is doin a lot better now too. The thing that sucks for him is the tracks that aren't poppy don't make it to the radio.... Most music is just out there to make you feel good though. If you feel good listen to it, if you don't change the channel.

^^^Ever listen to Wayne... seems like he prefers simili to metaphore.
As for Drake free styling... most rappers cant do that; they all spit pre thought/written shit on the radio ect because actual freestyling is SOOOO different from rapping and even most talented rappers cant free style, there are exceptions for guys like Common and what not but most just cant do it.
As far as the Drake hate goes, whats with that? I think its good to see anyone from Canada succeed I mean its not like you have to listen if you dont like it.

Did Drake actaully freestyle? I watched that vid for 1min. All that turd was saying is "yo, yo,yo, can I do this, yo, yo, yo, Toronto Canada, can I do this? That counts as freestyle?
How`s this then:
Hey, yeah, it`s me, hey, what up?
Woke up today, checked the computer,
there`s this guy drake, what a loser
New talent he is, that`s what they say

Check it, turn me up yo,

Right now I`m a feeling a lilttle better,

Listening to the first link now. Like the Drake connection. Good song, but don`t like it when there`s too much signing in rap. I blame warren G for this. Ever since the album regulate rappers always have too signing, takes away from the hardness I find.

I hear ya ritch, I personnaly prefer 90's new york hip-hop. a mc and a dj that's what it's all about. drake is more hip-pop than hip hop.

Ya he uses similes also... I hear what you're sayin about the freestylin. That's how lost do it.... Although some guys had to gain notoriety from underground competitions and hustling their own mixtapes because they didn't have someone big backing them.

I agree with Madvillain, East coast rappers from the past had the best talent.(Wutang, Big L, Kool G Rap, Big Pun, etc.)

Just learned this last night. Drake has family who`s written music for famous people in the industry ( I was told the Jackson`s among others ) and his parents or other relatives have MASSIVE plugs in this industry. Mystery solved of why this turd is getting the push he is. I`d give him a push alright, a push off a cliff, Ah ha ha ha...

Doesn't it piss you off?? Shits like this get tons of airplay and the fast track to success, not to mention Grammy nominations, simply because of who he knows.
Meanwhile, truly talented musicians go unnoticed and get lost in the mix.
It sure as hell pisses me off.... the whole " he's Canadian let's help him out and give him more exposure". I get so sick of that attitude... who gives a crap what country he's from? The dude sucks balls, dont reward him for it just because he's a freaking Canuck.
