Now I stick to a few weighted ab exercises such as v-crunch with a db between my legs, cable crunches, oblique db crunches. I am wondering the bigger you get how do most of you big guys keep improving the thickness and size in your abs further?
Also on another note, I have an issue with my abs. They are still not visible because I need to lower my bodyfat, but i will when i cut. However by feeling my abs, I can always tell they are improving but.. my very top left ab is a lot more smaller then my very top right ab. It seems as if whenever I used to work my abs i might of targeted the top right more somehow? I don't know how true that might be or it is just purely genetics, but have any of you experienced something like this? Shall i try to spread my weight towards the left side when exercising my top abs?

genetics, you dont target specific abs... just continue as normal

Abs just come in as bf gets lower, train them like you do... I've never experience having my abs getting bigger using resistance. They'll get enough stimulation from your big exercises anyway.

yes guys, your abs should thicken up the bigger you get and when you treat abs as any other muscle - weighted resistance for to achieve growth.

Last year i did no weighted abs and my abs were thin and my abdominal and thigh was very weak. This offseason and in my prep i have been doing strictly weighted abs and training them like the other muscles. Ive gotten much thicker, deeper and more dense abs and midsection as a whole and its been one of the biggest changes for this year. Weighted abs for the win.

Agreed whole heartedly, train with weight and no more than 10 reps in my book, just like any other bodypart.
Hmm.. Doesn't training abs with weights while on juice make them bulkier and leave you looking like you have a gut from a side profile? This is what I heard before and since I do not want to be thick in the abdomen from a side profile, I have always done them without weight.
or is that untrue?

Id have to say it may be water but since i started ab training with weight my midsection has thicken up an bulged out more. But its lean as can be just like thicker and more out then just flat and vaccuum like last year.

you are probably right but you don't want them thicker because you are not a bodybuilder.
when i am bulking i have the "gh gut"... when i diet, my waist is tiny

I would argue that I do bodybuild.
I "try" to keep my midsection as small as possible, which is why I also do not do heavy squats.

I keep my abs svelte by never doing any sort of lifting. Yes I am a bodybuilder.
