View Full Version : HRT for my dad

Whenever I try to talk to people about the benefits of hrt treatment in older folks, I always get the same responses. We`ve all heard them... "Testosterone? That stuff is dangerous" And it seems impossible to convince people otherwise. It`s like a conversation of pro or against abortions, neither side ever changes their view. My dad is 69 years old. I think it`s time he gets on hrt. He talked to his doc, but they live in a small town and his response was simply "I don`t like the sounds of that" Pathetic. He never even ran tests on him.
What I`d like to do in this thread is sum up all the info, points, if possible the research you know of proving the value of hrt treatments in people of need. I`ve read bits and pieces on the subject but whenever the topic comes up, I never seem to remember enough of it to convince people. I talk about how low test levels often mean high estrogen levels in the body which explains the expanding waist lines and such. I know that people with low test levels are in danger of certain health aspects but can never remember them.
Any info or proof you`d like to share?

Great thread Ritch. I am also looking into the hows and why's of hrt for my old man. Just doesn't seem right to let someone who has been athletic and physical every single day of his life slow down due to low test when it can be help.
Subscribed to thread.
My biggest concern is that my old man won't go for it because he will feel it is cheating (stupid media/gov/hypocrites...etc).

Ask him "Hey dad wanna be horny like you were when you were a teen?" After he does his snoopy dance, tell him what he needs to do...

hmmmm what if u gave him an "energy pill" (var) maybe give him only 10-15mg ed, once he trys it for like 3 weeks tell him what it really is and then introduce him to Mr. Omnadren twice a month. i was gonna do that with my pops but he is on heart meds so i cant. about 10 years ago he was getting cortisone shots for his elbow so i told him he should try 200-300mg deca a week, he went to his doctor and the doctor put this fear in him and told him anabolics are bad for u and that u dont get bigger and stronger from them its all in ur head, so i said "how come they are banned in the olympics than?" and he retorted "who knows more? u or the doctor?" doctors dont know shit about juice

Var, what am I a millionaire? Lol! The thought of giving steroids to my dad without him knowing it seems so wrong. And what if some real bad luck struck and he got sick, not saying it would be the steroid, I couldn`t live with that.
I did have him buy tribulus but he keeps forgeting to take it. He told me he`s take some and felt stronger the same day. I shouldn`t have told him what I said, but can`t have people believing bullshit like that...
But man do I feel you (no homo) with the whole "well he`s a doctor, who knows more about this" Shit comment...

Just tell him of Anti-aging clinics popping up all over the States. Most of these clinics deal with quality grade AAS and HGH.
If he is interested, go on-line and find home pages of these clinics. They are sure to have info and profiles of AAS and what not. This way he can look with his on eyes what is available out there and get familiar with it.

Thanks for your reply but he would never do that. I`ve talked to him about all the clinics popping up. I don`t think he`d even trust the online stuff. He`s 69 bro and getting "steroids" from an unknown person wouldn`t be his way of doing it. I would, and some day plan on it.

Here's a link to a forum that is centered around us older guys, maybe have him take a look or maybe you can glean some info off it to pass on to your Dad.

Married he is (I`m holding back the gay joke, as making a joke about you wanting to date my dad is just wrong... Oh I just said it!)
^^ i saw that coming.
I was just asking cause I feel like if he is married, maybe you could get your mom on board with the HRT.....you know........

My mom was a nurse, unfortunetly she dosen`t see things our way either. But she`d be great to do the shots for him! It could even become a father son activity, where we heat up our bottles together, and help each other out with the whole pinning process.
I`m determined to convince him, and I`m sure in this thread, we`ll get the info I need to do so. Gay jokes aside, lol!
Cant one get a script for GH if they are over 50 or something?
Get him to have his GH levels tested, and maybe he can hop on that instead. Or maybe both.
Just show him that video of sylvester stallone working out at like 64 years old. He'll be down.

I`m sure you can get GH as well. But the cost would be a factor, he`s retired and getting him started on just test is already going to be a battle. Getting him on GH as well would be very unlikely, daily shots and the cost would be the main factor. I`m sure he`d forget half the gh shots anyway.
I swear when the time comes, I`ll be getting medical test, gh, hcg, aromasin (if the cost isn`t still retarded by then to get in non ug) and deca. Man I don`t wanna age!

You said he asked his GP about prescribing deca already, so I assume your old man would be on board for all the benefits hrt would have to offer him. What about searching for a doc in your city, or a near by city who would prescribe hrt. I'm sure there are a few known ones in mtl. Being 69 years old is a pretty clear cut case (granted no conflicting medications or predispositions to illnesses) of someone who would benefit from hrt.

I look at it this way...If he were deficient in iron I am sure he would have no issues taking iron supplements. Same goes for any other blood deficiency he may have. Is the reason so many older men take Viagra or Cialis because they have deficiencies in those substances? Of course not. But that is how our medical system runs sometimes. You end up getting treatment for the symptom instead of the cause.
The root cause of fatigue, muscle loss, sleep loss, and numerous other ailments that older men are supposed to accept as signs of aging is crap. I would suggest to him that he goes to see an HRT doc that can explain things better to him. It would be also good if your Mom went along as with her background she can ask some educated questions and have some of the stereotypes alleviated.
I remember once when I went to see my HRT doc. He had some hot young female intern working with him. She was doing a research paper on the subject. We struck up a conversation and she said she was amazed at how many men she had seen in the last couple days who's lives had been drastically improved by this treatment. She told me "This is info the world needs to hear" I hope she gets the platform to share her findings.

LOL, it ain't THAT bad.
I hear ya. When I was 23 (10 years ago) I`d look at people in their 30`s and thought what old farts they were. I was an out of control party freak who lived to be awake the whole weekend and the older people couldn`t keep up with me... I`m that age now, and am much happier with myself than I was back then. I now find old people interesting and know being older has it`s ups (sometimes via a pill!) but the key I think is to try and enjoy the process. Although on most days I`m still a grumpy piece of shit, proof by the stuff I post here, lol, I guess...
On that note, it`s time to enjoy the process of me rolling a... Catch ya`ll tomorrow!

I hope so too. The stigma around HRT is a huge nuisance and deterrent for alot of people that could benefit form it

u can thank our doctors for that, u see a very small percentage of their class time was spent on roids and nutrition and they just repeat what they learned in school and never take their learning any further, thats one of the reasons they dont like to prescribe pot to people with anxiety, sleep probs, appetite probs, slowing down tumor growth, glaucoma or in our case testesterone or deca for post surgery recovery, burn victims and anorexic patients. i beleive every med has its place but in this country its ok for a girl to get bigger tits or get fat sucked out of her stomach cause she dont want to run on a treadmill but its sooooo bad if a guy wants to pump extra test into himself to make himself feel better

I'm actually on HRT (or should be - because my dosing is up in the air right now). When I first started I felt fantastic very quickly, morning wood, increased strength and energy. It wasn't a big deal to get put on, but my doc knows little about it. I'm now on a miniscule amount of gel - so little I'm not even bothering to use it. It's funny - if I was a menopausal woman there would be a number of places I could go in the city to get hormone therapy, and it would be perfectly acceptable. However when I tell the doc I want to be on injections because I want a higher level of T without the fuss and cost of gels I get a song and dance.
I think there's a terrible double standard that exists. It's ok to be an old fat man with no libido, but not to be a woman with the same symptoms. Heaven forbid I want to be a vibrant male! BTW: I'm only 44, this was likely a result of a botched vasectomy.

a lot of the old dogs have too much pride to go tell another, probably younger, man they think their balls arent putting out enough test anymore and the general ignorance many doctors have about the subject does not help. one of those vicious circles.
i would present your dad with all the facts, if he is convinced after reading them i am sure he will make it happen.
