This is embrassing as hell. So i was on track for dieting down. Swearing this time would be the end. Got down to 239 lost roughly 11pds from 250. Doing well looked healthy on my way to getting an abdomen. Today i am 255 pds lost 11 gained 16 in a quater of the time. Im so pissed at myself this cycle keeps popping up. Lose some ****ing gain it all back. Sure im a stronger, 250 than past times but im sick of having a fat belly. I would honestly toss my muscle aside right now to just feel good about my body. What do i do guys? This is ruining my self concept.

You need to fix your diet as opposed to dieting. Genetics can be a bitch so don't be too hard on yourself BUT you need a baseline every day diet that keeps you strong and lean, before you need a cutting diet.

I'd have a good look at the Paleo/Zone type diets as they seem to be pretty darn good at getting people to a good sustainable body composition. I have several friend who have always had bellies without regard to their level of fitness. Life is a bit cruel that way.

An 11 pound loss is pretty small as things go (4-5 weeks) so I'm guessing you didn't diet nearly long enough to get into the habit or shrink the stomach and appetite.

You might want to try 6 months of swapping out bad food for better foods (removing anything processed), ensuring you get 1.5 grams of protein per pound and keeping your carbs under 200 grams a day while eating slightly under maintenance.

Building good eating habits takes a little time. Obviously total calories are important but if you are one of those lucky(?) people who was born to survive long famines through efficient use of insulin to store fat then you are going to have to learn to reduce the insulin response in your body through diet.

Less carbs, more protein/fat.

You need to watch that insulin video posted the other day. Dr. Connelly explains why most diets fail and why you gain fat super easily. Watch all 3 videos.

I`ve got an eating problem as well. A pussy eating problem. I`m like Homer Simpson that time he`s on the blow up boat stuck in the ocean with Bart and the Flanders... Homer takes a small bite of the emergeny food, just to end up eating it all, like an out of control glutton. That`s how I am when I see a pussy in front of me. I think, I`ll just nibble on it, just a little bit to see. Then I`m all out eating it, leaving none for anybody else. Ah ha ha ha!

uve done what most ppl do Jack and taken the word "diet" to mean a short term weightloss endevour accomplished by consuming a hypocaloric diet but NOT establishing any permanent lifestyle changes!!

if you are only losing weight while "dieting" and then gaining it all back after the diet then you need to take a totally different approach to how you lose weight... the first step in long term success is making a few lifelong changes to start to your diet... a good first step would be limitiing cheat meals to something you can sustain forever, maybe 3-4 per week... the second rule could be like having veggies with each meal all year around, no matter what... that will make you feel fuller and stop you from consuming too many cals in each meal... 3rd rule would be eliminating calorie drinks from your daily lifestyle, things like cokes, muscle milk, fruit drinks etc and there are a ton more things you can do, but try to do these things in the context of a long time plan FIRST

after you get down a solid approach that you can sustain, then start tweaking the cals moreso to establish weightloss, that way when you complete a diet you can fall back on your sustainable plan and keep the weight off

most ppl only have two diets they follow... its either chicken, rice and veggies for as long as they can stomach or its burgers and pizza when they are in their so called offseason... u need something that stays a bit closer to the former rather than the latter when you are not trying to gain weight

through traditional dieting you basically prime your body for fat gain as soon as its done... you decrease leptin levels so you binge afterwards, you decrease insulin sensitivity so you have huge spikes in insulin when you resume normal carb intake, you suppress metabolic rate etc. all of these factors are your body's way of gaining back all the weight it lost and often times more!

i dont think its an addiction more a social equation, when i fat im depressed and self centored and do everything in my power to lose weight, then once my weight comes down and i get happy i dont really care about it that much and i slowly drop off my diet until everything is a mess

thats what i thought as well but after busting your ass all day and you get home, all you'll really want to do is sit down, sleep and eat every single thing in sight. i'd say bring a lot of veggies and protein with you for breaks and lunches or else you'll be starving... beeen there
