so is now a good time to buy USD. i dont see the canadian dollar being able to be this high forever. would it be wise to buy 10k in usd and sit on it, and hope the canadian dollar drops back to 80-85 cents again this pushing the usd back to $1.20

or is the canadian dollar expected to stay high for a long time, thus making your 10-20% profit margin not worth it due to the time it takes for it to rebound.

It hasn't been under .90 is a long time. I guess if you have an extra 10K kicking around it would be a decent thing to do. I've got some US stocks that I don't cash out until our dollar is low .

Last year it was over a dollar and now it's back to almost par. I'm thinking the next step that the powers want is a North American Dollar . Personally I think that would suck , but it would lower our prices big time.

IMO , it's a great time to buy from the US ( like supplements and such ) since their products are always cheaper.

Actually, it was in the high 0.70s one year ago -- the last time it was at par was during the summer of 2008. Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes even higher and stays there for a while.

Agreed - all indications are that it will go higher. Typically, our dollar does have a strong seasonal trend as well - it generally peaks in June/July. Most people you hear right now are saying our dollar will fare well (if you think a high dollar is good that is...) over the next 1-2 years. I wouldn't be rushing out to buy US $$$ just yet - their economy is still in trouble fundamentally, so there's really no reason to think the US dollar will improve anytime soon.

I fully agree the above statement!
