Hey all,

Well today I was in the gym training with my personal trainer. We were working on back and shoulders. I've always had a problem with my left shoulder being weaker than my right shoulder but I just assumed it was because I'm right handed. Well today not only was it failing sooner than my right but it was paining like mad on the top of my shoulder.

My trainer suggested I go get an ultrasound done and bring the results to him after my doctor looks at them. I am going to do this however my trainer thinks it could be excess scare tissue from an old injury or over training.

Will excess scare tissue cause this problem? If so how can the issue be resolved?

I'm currently heading into week 4 of a strong cycle and I just can't have this problem hold me back. I'm trying to reach a goal for my wedding which is in 5 months.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I seperated my left shoulder a few times, and now I've got a big bump of bone fragments and calcium that covers my ac joint... it took me a long time to get over it.

I'd see a massage therapist... you can usually get a really good 1 hr masssage for $25-$30 by a massage student... just look for massage schools in the phone book, and call a few. Just get them to strip it, and have a look... I've had nagging injuries that have been around for a year, disapear in 1 session.

I don't want to step on your trainers toes, but I limited over head pressing, and started benching with an arch, and doing lots of back work... that was how I got by, and a few years later... everything is fine... good luck... and don't worry, if you just stay at it, and work around what you need to, you can still hit all your goals in time for your wedding.

Ac joint pain? Tendonitis. It could take 5-6 months of rest and ice before training again. Remeber not to use ibuprofen etc. It reduces inflamation which speeds recovery but it also prevents injuries from healing properly. Lokk into it; it's true. Use ice instead, but use it properly. If this is the case then just get lean for your wedding at least.

Good luck. Hopefully im wrong.

If you have insurance look into seeing a physiotherapist. A good one will be able to pin point problems with form and structure that is the origin of your problems. A lot of times it is because certain stabilizer muscles around the shoulder are weak so the shoulder joint can't stay properly centered as it should be. Its common in the non dominent arm because we lack the same control as we have in our good arm. Sometimes it only takes a slight movement of millimeters in your form to cause problems, or correct them.

The above post is great. Do what bottleneck said.

Scar tissue is probably not your concern, yet.

Push your doc for an MRI to make sure nothing is tore or being torn from an impingment which was my case and I had to have two surgeries because of it.

If you catch it early enough you may be able to get it treated with ART, Massage and physio.

following up on what bottleneck said a good one to fine tune your motor skills can be as simple as bouncing a tennis ball over your head on the wall and catching it as well as from the floor to the wall to the same hand repeatedly.

It was one that was recommended to me post surgery and has helped with movement.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I had my Xrays done today to check for bone problems and tomorrow I am having the ultrasound done. If that turns up no results I'll get an MRI done. My doctor will do anything I ask to ensure my health. She rocks!

Here are my xrays for kicks
